FanIQ is a new type of sports site that empowers sports fans to be sports experts. For the first time, sports fans can accumulate a wide variety of statistics to prove their sports knowledge. Individually, fans compete to provide the most accurate predictions, submit the best news articles and write the best blogs. Collectively, this competition results in the best sports content from across the Web and proprietary “Wisdom of Crowds” data.
FanIQ is challenging the traditional sources of sports expertise by bringing accountability to the world of sports. FanIQ has developed a proprietary peer to peer poll system and a wiki-like system to let fans submit predictions on behalf of their favorite sports "experts." For the first time, it’s easy to pull together opinions from a wide variety of sources as evidenced by the 8,000,000 sports opinions and predictions that have been collected so far. How do fans do vs. the experts? The FanIQ Consensus beat the expert average from sites like ESPN, SI.com and Sportingnews during the 2006-2007 NFL season.
FanIQ was founded by a frustrated sports fan who was tired of hearing friends complain about sports experts. FanIQ is located in San Francisco and is angel-funded by a group of successful entrepreneurs.
