A reasonable argument against an MLB salary cap

There has been an ongoing thread arguing for and against the need for a salary cap in baseball, but the only ones solidly opposing a cap are Yankees fans. In this article, Howard Bryant explains how a cap might not be beneficial, and Yankee-hating, fun though it may be, may not be a legitimate rationale for implementing a cap. He almost has me convinced. It's certainly a better argument than I've seen any Yankees fans offer.
