An injury to Colt McCoy put a huge dent in Texas' plans, and Alabama ended up running away with the game in the 4th quarter, as freshman QB Garrett Gilbert threw a total of 4 interceptions after taking over for McCoy.

Heisman winner Mark Ingram was incredible, leading the Crimson Tide with 116 yards and 2 touchdowns on 22 carries. Trent Richardson also came up big, with 109 yards and 2 TD's on 16 carries. For Texas, Gilbert threw 2 TD passes to Jordan Shipley and Texas closed within 3 points after falling behind 24-6 in the first half, but late turnovers killed them.

This game featured some bizarre coaching decisions, including a fake punt by Alabama that resulted in an INT for Texas on Bama's first drive, and after watching all of the bowl games, there's no doubt in my mind that Boise State could have, at the very least, been very competitive against either one of these teams. Hopefully we get the chance to see that sort of thing sometime soon.
