Alabama forced to vacate wins from 2005 to 2007, but won't lose scholarships
Alabama's football program will have to vacate wins from 2005 to 2007, but won't lose bowl game wins or scholarships. Nice work NCAA, that'll show 'em.
Once again the NCAA shows itself to be a complete joke when it comes to exacting any kind of serious retribution.

The University of Alabama football team will be forced to vacate wins from the 2005 to 2007 that included players involved in violations of textbook disbursement policy. That would be at least 10 wins according to sources.

However, Alabama doesn't have to give up their 2007 bowl win and they don't lose any scholarships, so why even bother taking the wins away? What a joke.

God the NCAA is so pathetic it's just sad.

Had that been UAB, the program would cease to exist.  More proof that the Big 6+1 can get away with murder, and the rest of the schools can go kick rocks.

Alabama fans will claim those wins anyways...just like they claim a bunch of national titles they never actually won.  Oh yeah, and Bear Bryant NEVER beat Notre Dame.  There's your fun fact for the day!

Here's an excerpt from the article.

"Alabama will not have to give up its 2007 win over Tennessee or its bowl win that season."

Sorry, my bad, I mashed up that sentence from the article.

Gone are the days that the NCAA actually had some nerve.  It seems that since they banned SMU football  for a number of years, they haven't done anything but take a few wins away years later.

A note on the SMU banishment, they were actually part of a large conference (the old Southwestern Conference, with Texas, Texas, A&M, and Texas Tech) when the axe came down.

The NCAA is basically saying..."Go ahead, cheat.  We don't care."  The schools have already made their money and recruited their players based on what was previously done.  The NCAA has to get back to taking scholarships (perhaps not just football ones so that the entire school is responsible) and banning teams from the  "postseason."

I was amazed to hear that football players at Alabama had access to textbooks. This must be some kind of frame-up.

I think you're right, Joe.  The frustrating part is that there is no consistent standard.  It's pitiful.
