Its too funny how everyone including yankee fans seem to blame arod for all the failures...the man has produced year after year...its the suporting cast that has hurt...not arod....but with the big name comes big criticism...i think hes better off with the dominican...the US team played just like most do during the season....for the money.....and it shows!
does arod put up great numbers? yea. is he very talented, absolutely. big time in the clutch? no freakin' way. if you're up 10-2, home run everytime. 2 on down by 2, like the title says, double play. arod is the chokingest choker who ever choked.
It amazes me how much A-Rod gets picked on. Is he kinda a douche? Yes. Is he the best player in baseball? Yes. If the Yankees don't want him, the Brewers will gladly take him at 3rd.... with a major paycut.

being the best at playing baseball doesn't make you the best player. i know that sounds contradictory, but ted williams was a great hitter, and joe dimaggio won all the world series. when williams had his shot, he hit .200 and the sox lost. arod is very similar. great player. never to be confused with the best...
what a brilliant phrase.....how long did it take u to come up with that...hes been beaten up on because of the playoff performance....but every single player on that team has choked in the playoffs....since 2001 that is...not just arod.....but hey, your a mets fan...so the word choke is used often in your world

Yes, but these are extremely small sample sizes. Throughout a baseball season, its tough to distinguish the difference between a .280 hitter and .300 hitter, yet these are the differences between good and great hitters. Thats why I believe too many of us like to use the small sample size of the playoffs, because it makes the differences more glaring. Using small sample sizes is unfair to the players and unfair to the discussion of who is bad, mediocore, good, and great players. Heck, if I wanted to I could find a stretch of games where Bill Hall was a better player than Albert Pujols but we all know that Pujols is a first ballot HOFer and Bill Hall is just a below average baseball player. Truth is, in some of these playoff series where A-Rod has "choked" he's had better series than Derek Jeter, who is supposedly the definition of "clutch." While some of A-Rod's playoff performances are concerning, the regular season gives a far better interpretation of how good of a player A-Rod is than select 5-15 game samples that the playoffs give us.

absolutely, the mets choke collectively. we do it as a team! just like tony romo, derek jeter for the last 7 years and arod his whole career. as for my turn of phrase, it's called amusing irony - or do i need to dumb it down for anyone 'brave' enough to be both a cowboy and yankees fan...

i know all about sample sizes. and in the regular season, arod is a top 5 all time player, no dobut. and in world series play, rick dempsey and dusty rhodes were heroes - again, small sample sizes. but when push comes to shove, you cannot CANNOT defend arod's playoff record. it started off great with the mariners, and then, since the 2004 ALCS, it has tanked unmercifully. sample sizes can be used for good and bad purposes. it is a fools quest to make bill hall better than pujols - and no sample size can change that. and you can't have it the other way and say arod is the best, because i have his lack of postseason production and rings to prove it. he has now a large 'small' sample size...and the numbers are poor.

LMAO.....the yanks have choked collectively as a team also my friend...and that comes from our brilliant GM and ownership with the "we have to win now" mentality....its made me sick......my whole deal is...its ridiculous that everyone singles out arod...they all bash him..but would all love to have him....and those that say otherwise are just protecting themselves from scrutiny. Would seriously be upset if the mets were to sign arod? SERIOUSLY....dont think so....as for amusing irony.....not quite...

i was actually (no joke) quite happy when the mets lost out on arod in 2001. the rangers proved that you cannot allocate all that money on one player and hope to compete. only the yankees can afford to do that, which is why they have him, obviously. i'd love to have him, but it is not feasable when you have to work within a budget.
and when you are the highest paid, fair or not, you get the highest expectations. this was true when the players made $100,000 and it is true now that they make $30 million. if/when arod wins a series, everyone will kiss his ass and love him, but until he does, he will be the punching bag. peyton manning is a good example of this - peyton was the biggest choker in the world, until he wasn't. so it will be the same with arod.
It will be interesting to see how his game is next season. Personal drama tends to make it's way onto the field for a lot of players. WIth him apparently being Madonna's new bitch, I can't imagine sleep is on his agenda anymore.

why do i imagine that sleeping with madonna is this day and age would be like screwing a piece of beef jerky...and while he maybe living out some adolescent fantasy, i agree that it can't be good for his long term morale.

Look what it did for Guy Ritches career. He went from amazing movies like Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels to Swept Away.
that would be like arod hitt .200 with 11 HR and 30 RBI next year...
I just really hope that the new Sherlock Holmes movie is off the chain now that they are divorced. Madonna seems like she kills the careers of anyone she um....you know. I can't say the word on here for "pc" reasons.

rocknrolla didn't suck, but it was just a rehash of snatch and lock, stock...
