And LaDainian Tomlinson Selects...... the Minnesota Vikings

Well, he hasn't selected the Vikings yet, but he is scheduled to visit Minnesota on Thursday.  With the departure of Chester Taylor to the Chicago Bears, the Vikes lost a critical part of their offense.  With the Vikings in an ever increasingly competitive NFC North, and with the talent to still make a serious run at an NFL Championship it isn't a surprise with such an individual available they would seek to fill the position with a proven back and not an untested player.

Initially, I thought Brian Westbrook is a back more suited to fill Chester Taylor's roll in the Minnesota offense.  With Coach Childress' former position with the Eagles, and the manner upon which Taylor was used, there would be little transition.  However, health concerns (moreso the consideration of concussions) make such a move less probable.

If Tomlinson does make the trip, don't be surprised if he doesn't leave Edin Prarie (the Vikings home facility) with a contract.  Previously, Minnesota is very slow in free agency, and considering early stages of this process if LT is visiting it means that the Vikings are interested; the Minnesota owner (Zigi Wilf) is not shy about signing the players he feels that can better the team.  Also, for Tomlinson, this may be his best opportunity to sign with a contending franchise.
