In his new book, Agassi admits to using meth in 1997 while playing. Although he didnt win any majors that year, this is going to get really interesting.
As a guy who is familiar with the Tampa FL tennis type scene, I can tell you that meth use is prevalent among tennis players, both male and female. I can't say I'm shocked that Agassi admitted to it.
In all seriousness though, this just makes the Agassi story more fascinating, and it adds another wrinkle in his journey from Image is Everything bad boy to respected elder statesman of tennis. In the end, it's good to see that Agassi did eventually mature and didn't end up dead in an alley from OD'ing on meth or something.
ok if you was caught then say it, but not keep these things from getting out, cause I am really tired of showing my Identification to get over the counter sinus products.
I wish Andre had not share this fact with me.....but he did come back and he was the best return of service player in the world and the most exciting in the World.....
I always envisioned Andre snorting coke off hookers chests in posh hotel rooms, but that is so 1980's - I suppose this low-rent gritty 90's alternative will have to do.
Oh, and ESPN had this on the "breaking news" banner on the bottom line. How is the fact that an athlete in a second tier sport did a second rate drug 12 years ago news, breaking or otherwise?

I think the most interesting part of it is that he failed a test for Meth and he was still allowed to play. He had a lame excuse, of course. He said that he was positive because he drank a drink that was spiked with meth by his assistant, or some such.
Just shows how much the tennis powers that be knew that they had to have Andre out there playing to keep selling tix and getting people to watch on TV.
