Annika Sorenstam takes a swing at Michelle Wie
If you've read this blog for a while, you know my thoughts on Michelle Wie.

She needs to go away, and take her father with her (Actually, I should say her father needs to go and take Michelle with her). Her gimmick act is no longer a gimmick and the 'act' is tiring. I know she's still young, but the Wie camp insists she's bigger than that. I'll stop taking shots at Wie once she 1) proves herself on the LPGA tour or 2) stop drawing attention to herself in Men's events.

You'll remember last week she "withdrew" from an event after opening 14 over after 16 holes citing a wrist injury. This of course meant she wasn't subject to the little know 88 rule:
The somewhat obscure Rule of 88 states that a nonmember who shoots 88 is forced to withdraw and subsequently banned from LPGA co-sponsored events for the remainder of the calendar season.
Just days later, Michelle Wie was back playing in a practice round and Pro-Am. Annika Soremstam is not amused:
"I just feel there's a little bit of lack of respect and class just to leave a tournament like that and then come out and practice here, especially being the hostess," Sorenstam said during a news conference Tuesday. Wie was practicing here at Bulle Rock on Saturday.

"I don't know the situation, if it's injury or whatever it is," Sorenstam continued. "It just seemed really weird. I know what it's like to be injured. When I was injured [she recently took seven weeks off to heal a back injury], I wasn't able to touch golf clubs for weeks. It's a little funny that you pull out with an injury and then you start grinding. My doctor told me to rest."
Thank you, Annika. My criticism of Wie all along has been an issue of respect. Is she talented? Sure. It's this complete lack of respect for everyone on the LPGA tour that has bothered me. Unfortunately, I think it's her father who's calling the shots that continue to miss badly.
