Are The Bears and NBC Butting Heads?

NBC's requests to interview Chicago Bears General Manager Jerry Angelo, Head Coach Lovie Smith, and Quarterback Jay Cutler were turned down according to Bears team spokesman Scott Hagel.  The Bears claim they just want to concentrate on beating the Eagles, but many believe the interviews with Bob Costas were turned down because it was going to focus on the struggles of Jay Cutler.  According to NBC, the piece was going to highlight the roller coaster season of the quarterbacks erratic play.  An NBC Sports spokesperson had this to say.

"Our job is always to tell the story of the event. To inform our viewers across the nation."

I'd like to stick up for Jay Cutler and the Bears in this situation, but it seems as though they're dodging the interviews because the team has struggled mightily.  As professionals, they have to take the good with the bad and they sure were't avoiding any interview requests prior to the season when expectations were high.

What do you think?  Are the Bears being unprofessional?
