Bears Beat-Writer Deems Hester a 'Legitimate #1 Receiver' and Means It. How Sad.
It's tough to figure out what Bob LeGere of the Daily Herald is thinking, but it seems he has finally moved on from stoking the flames of the ridiculous Cutler vs. Orton debate in Chicago (at least for a moment).  The fact that some people even think there should be a controversy is funny.

Now LeGere has decided that Devin Hester has as he puts it "arrived." LeGere points out that Hester has 21 catches over the last 3 games, placing him only behind Larry Fitzgerald during that span.  Devin has really improved as a receiver, but there is no way in the world you can call him a true #1.  His limitations are still front-and-center every Sunday.

Just because the Bears have no #1 wide-out, LeGere is ready to thrust Devin Hester into that role.  It's premature.  His route-running is average at best and it's still not clear that he knows the entire playbook.  What are your standards for a true #1 wide-receiver, and does Devin Hester fit the bill?  I can't believe it.

He's probably the number 1 for the team, but he's not what the average person would consider a "number 1" wide receiver if that makes sense.

premature or not someone needs to step up or be put in the role of  # 1 wide-receiver. The question should be who ever is looked as to be or seen as the #1 wide- receiver will that someone now  being Devin Hester will he be able to play  the role of being # 1 we shall see.......

I think Knox should get more run he could be like DeSean in Philly.  I think he's a nice player.

Devin Hester is about as much of a number one receiver as Reggie Bush is a featured back.  High skill level, but best used in supplemental situations.  On any other team, Devin would be a 3rd option slot receiver used primarily on third downs.  Very similiar to the role kevin williams played with dallas during the aikman, irvin years.

wow.... that is  the dumbest statement of the day.

I would have said dumbest of the week... but that award goes to.....

the announcer for the miami dolphins radio network who called tedd ginn a bust and then went on for 2 minutes to talk about what a disappointment he has become....  then 10 minutes later he ate his words.

I agree. He's got the speed and talent, just needs a lil room to make a play or break a big one.

Hester may not be a true prototypical #1 but he is improving.  This is really year two for him at the position.  Switching from DB to WR is probably not the easiest thing to do.  He is doing a very good job this year and he is the Bears #1 receiver.  It's true ,he may lack the size but has really good hands, he is fast and elusive.  In my eyes, Hester is playing like the Bears' #1 receiver.

hell freakin yes, dislike ones that run there mouth about someone that does not fit the traditional mold, size, or even routine.... Switching from DB to WR is not the easiest thing to do but through that switch as some of you bear junkies like myself  have noticed has been a good move for hester he is doing very well . Yes he lacks size but as noted makes up for that with his hands, speed & the ability to moo quite loudly better than most cows. So yes hester is playing like the bears #1 receiver & mooing like a 1st class cow would this season.............
