Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva expected to sign with the Detroit Pistons
Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva are both expected to sign with the Pistons. Um, are you sure you want to let that happen, Detroit?
Ok, so word is that Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva are both in Detroit today and are both going to sign with the Pistons. That'll take up all of Detroit's $20 million cap space.

Uh, so you're spending all you cap space on Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva? Let me be honest with you Detroit, that won't turn your team around.

Wow. So they plan to basically throw all of that money saving away. Great thinking. They might get a few more wins next year, but thats it. They still won't compete at the levels of Boston, Orlando, or Cleveland.

First of all, they are keeping both players away from competitors, since both were expected to land with Eastern Conference foes (namely Cleveland, who ousted them in the playoffs in 4), and second, both players certainly aren't scrubs, and look like solid signings as well as solid fits for them.  With Rodney Stuckey at the point, they should be able to do some big things in Detroit with a rotation of Maxiell, Wallace, Bynum, Prince, Hamilton, Stuckey, Gordon, and Villanueva.  Not a bad Eastern Conference lineup at all, and if they move 'Sheed, they can potentially do even more in free agency or roster-wise.

Well, it can't be any worse for Detroit, can it? Make some moves, shake it up a little. Can't really expect to get back to the championship with the team that is currently in Detroit.

If they move Sheed, look for the Cavaliers to get him; write this down.

Ben Gordon is a team killer, so whoever is signing him will be making a mistake. As for Charlie V, the man can ball.  He'll be a boderline All-Star for the next few years and may even make an All-Star game.

So Detroit's now just saying screw defense all together. And what's wrong with giving Bynum another shot?

When Ben Gordon is "on" they'll win, and when he's not, he'll shoot anyway.  That means about a .500 team for the reported 10 million a year they want to give him.  Not worth it.

i'm not sure these 2 players help Detroit all that much. Charlie v. has had some injury issues and i'm not sold on Gordons ability to score consistently
