Brewers trade JJ Hardy to the Twins for Carlos Gomez
The Twins have another new shortstop, trading for JJ Hardy from the Brewers
17
JJ Hardy has been the subject of trade rumors for months now, and a deal has finally been made. Hardy is heading to the Twins, ostensibly to replace Orlando Cabrera, who was traded to the Twins before the trade deadline.

The Brewers got outfielder Carlos Gomez in return. Last year, Gomez hit .229 with 3 HR and 28 RBI in 137 games.

If the World Series didn't end two days ago, I might care about this story.  NFL and NBA for the next 4 months then the MLB news will matter to me.

If Gomez lives up to his potential this could be a steal. Unfortunately, that seems a bit unlikely.  However, it does open the door for Alcides Escobar at SS so I'm pumped about that.

This is a good move by the Brewers. Hardy could really use a change of scenery.

I suppose this means that Hart is moving to CF, or is this gomez guy a center fielder??

Gomez is a CFer.  Hart is bad enough in RF, we don't need him in CF.

Twins had a crowded outfield but I will miss Gomez's defense(his bat was terrible). My question is what are they going to do with Cabrera? Package him for a 3rd Baseman with Crede?

Good luck to you with Go-Go, he's definitely going to be a fan favorite to most with his speed and plays in the outfield, but man is it frustrating as hell to watch him at the plate.

I don't know what to think about this trade overall, I was kinda hoping Orlando could stay for another year, but JJ does provide some more power than what we're used to here for a SS. This does mean, however, that Delmon Young might be an everyday starter in the OF, and that sickens me a bit.

There are definite holes right now seemingly everywhere. Young in left, Cuddyer back in right, and who knows in center. Then Buscher/Punto and Casilla/Punto at 3rd and 2nd, which will be just ugly to look at again.

Young in Center, Cuddy to right, Span in left....they need to pick up a 3rd baseman; Crede is too fragile and I think Buscher could go to 2 with Punto at 3rd but would like someone better there. Punto is good for platoon purposes. Casilla can go as far as I'm concerned

Whoa, I completely forgot about Span, already too far into the offseason for me...and no way is Young in Center over Span. Have you seen Delmon in the outfield? It's embarrassing. And no way is Buscher a 2nd baseman, he's too large and not agile enough to make plays to his left or right, he needs the foul line to bail him out. Maybe Harris will start again next season at 3rd with Punto at 2nd, but I do agree that they do need to pick-up an infielder, either 2nd or 3rd, or possibly both..

Maybe a change of scenery will help this guy. He started his career pretty good then kinda faded.

To be fair, it isn't that big of a change in scenery, Milwaukee to Minneapolis isn't that far.

I dunno... I don't like Hardy's chances to hit AL pitching *that* much better than what he was doing in the NL. And he's not a defensive wiz, so far as I know.

229 avg 3 hrs and 28 rbis, wow what a joke, the sewers have 3-4 other punch and judy outfielders on the bench now, THE BREWERS WILL BE A LOSING TEAM FOR A LONG TIME, THEIR PITCHING SUCKS !!!!!!!!!!!!

I actually think he'll rebound decently.  He isn't great defensively, but he's solid.  He's got a cannon for an arm so Twins fans will like that.
