Carlos Boozer is staying with the Utah Jazz
Carlos Boozer is staying with the Jazz for $12.7M this year, and joining the growing list of 2010 free agents

Carlos Boozer could have opted out of his contract with the Jazz, and would have become one of the biggest free agents of the year. Instead, he opted to remain in Utah under his current contract.

He'll make $12.7M this season, and will then join the All-Star laden 2010 free agency class. It makes sense, since half the league seems to be clearing out payroll for 2010 anyway.

With Korver staying, now Boozer as well, the Jazz will make re-signing super-sub Paul Millsap a top priority.  Good move for a Jazz team that faltered down the stretch and into the playffs due to injury.  When healthy, they are one of the Top 10 teams in the league, and they look very capable of making a run this next season.  Otherwise, they have a good young core to build upon thereafter.

To think that after next season the Jazz could end up without Boozer or Millsap. Ouch.

Jazz make a smart move here, and so does Boozer IMO. Why jump ship this year when teams are going to spend like drunken sailors next year?

I don't think this works out well for the Jazz. As guylake said, there's a damn good chance they could lose both Boozer and Millsap after next year. I believe they were planning on Boozer leaving so they could sign Millsap, but with Boozer staying, they can't do that now. So unless they trade one of these guys, or resign one of them in the middle of next year, Utah could lose two very good players for nothing.

Bad news for Pistons fans. Looks like Dumars is going to go out and overpay for Gordon now.

The way things are going, we might as well release all NBA players and hold a draft a year from now.

That's not a lot of money for the Carlos Boozer of two years ago, but a ton of money for Carlos Boozer of last year.

Yeah, it really does feel like next year is a fantasy draft.
