Cashman Denies New Contracts for Jeter, Rivera, and Girardi
No New Deals for Jeter, Rivera, or Girardi, Says GM with Cushy Contract
If you can get past the nauseatingly saturated NY Post layout, you'll find a story about how Brian Cashman is in no rush to resign Derek Jeter, Mariano Rivera, or Joe Girardi before their deals are up this season.

On the surface, this is a sensible move, given the age of both Jeter and Rivera. As for Girardi, it seems like every year we hear the same contract talks swirling, just like they did with Torre dating back to 2001.

I see all three resigning with the team after the season, but it'll be interesting to see how the Great Recession will affect their payday, if at all.

And just for a good laugh, go through the comments section. Seriously, it's like everyone decided that the best way to form a debate was to throw up on their keyboards and hit "Enter."

It actually makes sense. These 3 guys will resign next season and more than likely take a small paycut to stay on the roster. Jeter and Mo want to retire as Yankees and Girardi isn't going anywhere for a while after bring home the Commissioners Trophy in his second season as the Yankees manager!

They'll sign Jeters, & Mo. If they don't they will have Yankees Fans everywhere in an uproar!! As for Girardi? You have a manager that in his second season brings home the bacon!! He won't be going anywhere.

Why is Chewbacca the mascot for a team named the Thunder? Why is there a team named "Thunder" in the middle of tornado alley? Why does OKC have a team, but Pittsburgh doesn't? I'm confused -_-
