Chargers Fans Beware...Rex Ryan, Thomas Jones and the New York Jets Are Better Than We Think.

While I want to believe that the LT "Electric Glide" video will take the 2009 Chargers and morph them into the 1985 Bears, I am also a realist who pays attention to the entire NFL during both the regular season and playoffs. And I know one thing is for sure...The N.Y Jets are a team who are a lot better than many Chargers fans may think...

Here are some things I feel we Chargers fans need to understand before Sunday's matcup with the Jets.

Rex Ryan believes in his team, and he showed that by providing his Jets with a complete postseason schedule...Complete, right through the Super Bowl Parade in February. “We still have a lot of work to do ahead of us, but the reality of it is, we win three games, we’re world champs,” Ryan said Sunday during a conference call. “So it’s so close right now, you can almost taste it.”

Ryan has a Super Bowl Ring from coaching the DL on that ridiculously great defensive Baltimore Ravens team from 2000... His father, Buddy Ryan, was the Defensive Coordinator for the 85 Bears.

What Chargers fans should also understand, is that Thomas Jones is an "Elite" running back who is both powerful and quick.  Over the past 5 seasons playing in the both the NFC and AFC, Thomas Jones has averaged about 1,300 yds. rushing. Thomas Jones is Second in NFL rushing over the last four seasons with 4,976 yards to LaDainian Tomlinson's 5,861. In 2008, Jones rushed for 13 TDs besting that in 2009 with 14 more TDs. Jones has also been selected to the Pro Bowl for 2008 and 2009.

Thomas Jones has been to a Super Bowl already. He rushed for 112 Yards breaking loose for 52 on one play...Jones also rushed for 123 yds and 2 TDs in the 2006 NFC Championship game. Jones has succeeded  for many years playing in Chicago and New York where the elements are nasty come winter time. His legs will be in tip-top shape playing in partly cloudy weather here in S.D. The Jets are 10-2 when Thomas Jones has scored a Touchdown.

The Jets top-ranked defensive stats don't lie either. The truth is that no team can escape from Revis Island. The Jets only gave up 252.3 ypg. this season, which is 50 yds less than the next closest team. The Jets had the fewest points scored against them this season at 236 for a 14.8 Pts/G average.

Defense definitely wins Super Bowls, and they win really important Playoff Games as well.

With that in mind, I think Chargers fan everywhere better buckle their seat belts and get ready for battle.

The N.Y. Jets are better than we think they are....
