Charlie Villanueva will be sought by Cleveland Cavaliers this offseason as a free agent
LeBron, Shaq and Charlie Villanueva? Yep, the Cavs are going after Villanueva this offseason. Is that enough for a championship?
It looks like the Cavs are going all out to try and help LeBron win a championship in 2010. The Cavs have already brought in Shaq, and now they're turning their attention to Charlie Villanueva.

Why are they turning their attention to Villanueva?

Well, in a move that was considered shocking in some corners Monday, the Milwaukee Bucks decided not to offer Villanueva a qualifying offer to make him a restricted free agent. He now will be unrestricted, which makes him significantly easier to sign because the Bucks will not have matching rights. According to sources, Villanueva now will be one of the Cavs' main free-agent targets when teams are allowed to speak with them Wednesday.

The Cavs have their midlevel exception, expected to be around $5.6 million to $5.8 million, to offer in the first year of a contract.

Cleveland's main problem against Orlando was they have small guards, sans LeBron, and the Magic exploited that. Picking up Villanueva would certainly help them on the perimeter. Also if the Cavs get him, how loaded will the top of the East be? Geez

Mo Williams, Delontae West, LeBron James, Charlie Villanueva, Z or Shaq.......
I love that lineup. Who needs Varejao?

Varejao has been instrumental in the cavs but i think Villanueva is more potent

Good move if they can pull it off.

Villanueva would be a great addition to the Cavaliers.

So after getting Mo Williams last offseason, now LeBron's job will be to lead the 2007-08 Bucks to the championship. And I thought the Cavs were a lost cause.

Villanueva is just what they need right now.  The Magic will definately have some problems now that Hedo is leaving and they also lost Courtney Lee and Rafer Alston.  The Cavs are definately in the title picture if this happens.

Yeah, Charlie would give them the size they need. But I just don't see him as being the piece the really need. Seems like something is just not right here, I just can't put my finger on it yet.

Well, I'm a Piston fan and what I heard is that we were going after Charlie and Andreson Varejao, but it's one thing that irks me........ I can't stand raggedy Andy, always flopping all over the place.  He only got away with it because he was on the team with the King.  Hopefully Joe Dumars won't pick Andy up and trade another one of our good players like he did before.  Quiet as it is kept, they can keep Ben Gordon too.

1 of the standing GM laws is: "Copy the Champions" and both the Magic and Lakers featured a ‘Big 3’ on offense; O’Neal even at this point in his career is a good passer, can get 20 and 10 when healthy and motivated, can defend, [provided he is given a stationary target to guard], Charlie represents 16 ppg., 7 boards, also he's long and athletic enough to check Odom, Turkoglu, even Lewis in a pinch.  The problem is when teams run screen and rolls or pick and pop, neither Shaq nor Z excel at defending these situations and that's going to continue to be a problem.

News Flash!   Everyone can stop talking about Charlie V. because we ( the Pistons) got him for 40M and Ben Gordon for 55M.  I guess I can live with Ben but I couldn't have lived with raggedy Andy V.  Now my question is why pay Ben 55M and not pay Chauncey 60M?   Can someone please explain this to me, like I'm a 6 year old.

P.S. That statement came from a movie (smile)!~
