Chicago Cubs should put Carlos Zambrano on waivers or trade him
So, what can the Cubs do to turn their awful season around? Why, put their ace pitcher on waivers, of course. Wait, what?
Chicago Tribune writer Phil Rogers is getting sick of the tremendously awful season the Cubs are having. His solution: Put the ace of the pitching staff on waivers. Um, what?

Yep, Rogers is sick and tired of Carlos Zambrano's immaturity and idiocy, so he's calling for the Cubs to release him. That may sound crazy, but Zambrano has a no-trade clause in his contract, so that's really the only thing the Cubs can do.

Seems just a tad harsh, but then again, the Cubs have been awful this season. It's so crazy it just might work.

Actually, it's not uncommon for teams to put there star players on waivers in order to see what teams might be interested in making a deal.  Once another team makes a claim, the Cubs would have a certain amount of time to decide on whether to take that player off waivers or let him go.

Not a bad idea but it won't happen.  Zambrano has great passion which is great but... seriously they need to do something to make this team come out of the hole.  They might look to move him if he'll waive the clause.

The Cubbies need more than just putting Zambrano on waivers. They a manager that can manage, a couple of out fielders that can catch the ball, a few infielders that can throw the ball from cesond base to first without making an error, and most of all that need a couple of long ball hitters that don't cheat the system ! ! ! ! !

I don't think saying Lou can't manage is right Lou does the thing.  The way you just explained the team you made them sound like the Natinals.  The Cubs just made the post-season last year sooooooooo I'd be a little relaxed there.

It's not a bad idea really. If anything else, just to see if someone takes his salary off their hands.

Z didn'r cause the Cubs to not score any runs. GM Hendry is the 1st who should be shown the door..OF Bradley is a bigger and less productive idiot than Zambrano, no back up 3b in the entire system, wasn't aggresive in adding a player, like Derosa and let him go to a division rival..I could go on..Hendry needs to go!

Here's what my Cubbies need (IMO):

* They need Ramirez back, in the worst way !     Fontenot is NOT an everyday player, at 2nd or 3rd.
* Try to find someone who would take Bradley, likely in the AL.   Could Baltimore be enticed for Brian Roberts with Bradley and some young arms from the minors ?
* They need a lead-off hitter who can get on base from time to time !!!!!!!!!
(side-note - when the Cubs have done well & made the playoffs, they've ALWAYS had an effective lead-off man...Dernier, Walton, Lofton, etc.)   Getting someone on base sets the table for the big hitters.   Having someone on who is a threat to steal means less curves/sliders to the batters)
* Soto has to get his head out of his "butt".....he's been playing so bad this year.    Before the season, I thought he was the most important player on the team
* They need a leader to "step up" & get the players focused.    Let's face it.....is there a "leader" on this team ?

Aramis..............we need you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Cubs have a bunch of all stars but few ball players. A-Rod doesn't win but Jeter does, TO doesn't win but Marvin Harrison does, McGrady doesn't win but Duncan does.

LOU IS NOT THE PROBLEM. HE HAS WHAT HE HAS AND CANT PLAY THE GAME FOR THE PLAYERS. THE PLAYERS NEED TO STOP WHINING AND START PLAYING THE GAME, THEY ARE MAKING MILLIONS AND SHOULD START PRODUCING LIKE IT. AS FOR ZAMBRANO, ITS JUST TIME TO GROW UP SON. YOU HAVE NOT PITCHED VERY WELL THE LAST 2 YEARS, TIME TOGROW UP, THE ANTICS ARE OLD AND STALE, YOU ARE TOO YOUNG TO THROW IT ALL AWAY.
