As time goes by, more and more ideas arise for ways to pay tribute to our fallen hero, Dale Earnhardt Sr.  As opening day of the NASCAR Hall of Fame approaches, those gentlemen who have been named as the most important figures in NASCAR will be inducted.

And, as we celebrate Dale Earnhardt Sr.'s birthday, the announcement has come that, if everything can be worked out, Dale Earnhardt Jr. will drive the number 3 car for JR Motorsports in the Daytona Nationwide race in July.  Richard Childress Racing has the rights to the 3 at this time, and although Chidress' grandson, Austin Dillon, has driven the 3, no one in the upper series has driven the 3 since Dale Sr's death in 2001.

A week or so ago, JR Motorsports released Kelly Bires from the 88 in the Nationwide series, and instead, announced that Jamie McMurray, an Earnhardt Ganassi driver, would take over the duties for a number of races.  At that time, I made a comment that it appearted some of the fences between Dale Earnhardt Inc and JR Motorsports, or between Dale, Kelley and Teresa may be on the mend.

Whether that is, in fact, the case remains to be seen, but if Dale Jr does drive the 3, it is a start in the right direction.
