Dallas Braden, who lost his mother to cancer when he was a teenager, fired the 19th perfect game in MLB history Sunday as the Oakland A's defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 4-0.  Braden threw 107 pitches and struck out six in shutting down down the Rays, who heading into the game led baseball in average and runs scored.

The only other pitcher in A's history to toss a perfect game was Catfish Hunter, who did so on May 8, 1968, against Minnesota. The last no-hitter in A's franchise history came on June 29, 1990, when Dave Stewart accomplished the feat.
