My oh my, is this ever interesting.

If Danica Patrick does jump from the Indy Racing League to NASCAR, as increasingly appears likely, the battle for her, according to sources close to the negotiations, is down to car owners Rick Hendrick, of Chevrolet, and Jack Roush, of Ford.

But here's the big thing if she goes to Hendrick. She might take Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s spot on Hendrick's official four-team Cup roster, with Earnhardt moving to an expanded JR Motorsports operation.

JR Motorsports, Earnhardt's own operation, run in partnership with Hendrick, would thus be stepping up to a full Cup program; Hendrick has already been talking with Talladega winner Brad Keselowski about Keselowski's future in NASCAR, with indications he could get a Cup ride with an expanded JR Motorsports venture, with Hendrick engines and Hendrick engineering.

It is not clear how far along any Patrick-Hendrick negotiations have gone, but sources have said it is very close to being a 'done deal.'

Look for some serious SHR involvement if Junayh takes it to JRM. ( want it on the record that since Junyah left DEI I have always said he and Tony would one day be involved in a joint venture!)

Regardless, the long arm of Slick Rick is again branching out..That guy sure knows how to make some money, and to essentially get around the 4 car rule. He is a freakin marketing genius!!!!!!!!!!! Wish to hell he'd branch on over to DEI, and bring it back in the fold!

Rick would be foolish to replace Junior....he is  the biggest cash machine in Nascar at the present time, irregardless of his on track performance....Danica would bring in new sponsors and an immediate cash infusion but the novelty would soon wear off....better to stick with a known performer

I think it would be smart for Junior to be the main driver along with Keselowski, expand his JR Motorsports team and partner with Hendrick for motors and chassis just like Tony did.....

While I think Danica is a pretty damn good driver; she belongs in open-wheel.  There is no way she is going to be able to muscle a 3400 lb NASCAR BOT (Brick of Tomorrow) around a 4-hour yellow flag festival.  I do think she needs to diversify a little bit and get some seat time in ALMS.

there is only 5 or 6 good drivers in the IRL and she cant win, how is she gona compete against 15 drivers that can win on any given sunday, she is a joke, doesnt belong in nascar till she has a title other than pinup

Well, ya know Phil, I don't agree with you there.  She is an extremely talented driver.  Nope, she hasn't won a championship and she only has one win, but that doesn't mean she doesn't have talent.  Mark Martin doesn't have a championship either, in Cup, but I don't think you could label him a non talent either.  she HAS to be talented to be where she is, cuz she didn't get a ride with EGR based on her looks.  She does compete, and she has a lot of top ten finishes.  Will she come to NASCAR? No, I don't think so.  Not because she can't but because she probably doesn't want to.  I think she wants to succeed in IRL and won't give up until she has greater success there.  I also don't think she would like the gruelling schedule the Cup series runs. 

But that's just my opinion.

a perfect example of Open Wheel drivers not doing much in NASCAR...look at Juan Pablo?he has one win and like 7 Top 5's in 3+ years....though he does run well at given tracks or given times....he is to inconsistent and hasn't amounted to much and i sadly see the same thing with Danica...and Juan is a multiple winner in open wheel and Danica has one win in the IRL....so i think she needs to stay where she is until she truly has proven herself...but for the record i do like her but i think she is more of a PR stunt for NASCAR then anything

Dude what races are you watching??? Have you seen him this year?? He is in the Top 12 contending for the Chase!!!!!!!  JPM has more than held his own in the 2  years (3?) he has been in Nascar. Look at the stats,,,pit his results against Franchitti,  and Carpentier..it all happened at the same time...

I too am going to weigh in on this.  I don't believe JPM is a bust.  His attitude when he first joined the series set a lot of people off, and unfortunately, we have those who dislike him because of his nationality, but he is improving all the time, just like Sam Hornish Jr is.
