Danny Ainge says Rajon Rondo needs to grow up
Danny Ainge keeps trying to find a reason to trade Rajon Rondo, says Rondo "needs to grow up."
For whatever reason, Danny Ainge seems hellbent on trading Rajon Rondo. I'm not sure why, since the odds of getting another point guard the quality of Rondo aren't real high.

Ainge says that the 23-year-old guard needs "to grow up" and revealed that Rondo was fined for showing up late to a playoff game this year.

Ainge also blamed Rondo for the second-round loss to the Magic.

Is it just me, or is Ainge just being a total jackass and going out of his way to mess with Rondo? Because it sure seems like he is.

Not sure what Rondo could've done more in that 2nd round loss to the Magic.  The guy averaged a triple double for the playoffs trying to carry the inconsistent Ray Allen and Paul Pierce

Danny Ainge is a moron. Period. Always has been, always will be. Don't let the one championship fool you. He's a terrible GM.

For one, Rondo's value is probably at its' highest, and it wouldn't hurt to see what is out there for him while his value is at the level it currently is.  While Rondo definitely does need to do some growing up, he is one of the best young point guards in the game, and it would be a mistake for Boston to move him.  However, there is no fault in seeing what your options are and what exactly is out there.

Cleveland does not want Rondo.According to Bruce Drennan on Sportstime Ohio, Rondo is uncoachable.

Look I agree with you on some level, but Ainge seems to be taking it a step too far. I mean, it really seems like he's trying to get rid of him. Why in the hell, if you're trying to move a guy, would you bad mouth him? I mean, a team could come in and land Rondo for like 70 cents on the dollar. Seriously, Ainge is an idiot. He just seems to hate Rondo.

I certainly agree with you on the part of Ainge being out of line badmouthing him, but nothing said was truly inflammatory.  I do think that if someone is to voice an opinion on Rondo, it should be behind closed doors first and foremost, and should come from Head Coach Doc Rivers as well.

However, we do not know what goes on behind closed doors in Celticland or the relationship between Rondo and the organization, so it's not completely fair to gage the situation as a distant observer or a fan.  I do think it is damaging to Rondo's status and relationship with the team, as well as to his trade value to call him out in such a manner, but this sort of stuff goes on all the time in the world of sports.  JaMarcus Russell is being called out a bit more in Oakland and it seems to be having a positive effect, but I am not really sure of Ainge's angle in this situation.

Time will tell what will become of this, and I don't think Rondo gets moved, because it would be moronic to do so.  But Ainge has gotten (really) lucky once, aside from that, he hasn't been a great or even a good GM by any means.

He got a championship team there and I would say that a year ago people were loving him calling him a great GM...just cause a move isn't popular doesn't mean it's always a bad move.

This is very interesting!!  Not sure what to think about this.  I thought Rondo was up and coming....

danny ainge is a nut! he should leave well enough alone with that team. he knows rondo didn't lose that series by himself. they were under-manned without garnet.

I never called him a great GM. Not once. He got lucky with the KG trade, because McHale was the only GM in the league who was more of an idiot than Ainge.

The Celtics have a 1-year window left in which they MIGHT contend for a championship, IF everyone stays healthy. If they deal Rondo, that window closes a year early, and by the time the Celtics get back to that level, it will have to be with an entirely new team, because Ray Allen will be gone, and KG and Pierce will be too old.

Don't forget the years that Danny Ainge spent driving the franchise into the ground to get the top picks that they used in the KG and Ray Allen deals.

If this was football, Rondo would try to get traded now just for shopping around. If Rondo is in fact uncoachable then it doesn't help having Doc Rivers as a coach. PG is so important in basketball and to risk alienating your up and coming star pg is a mistake. I thought Ainge just got lucky and McHale bailed him out in the KG trade. Really who is the one that needs to grow up.

Seems to me that Rondo is acting pretty grown up since he's not calling out Ainge for trying to trade him. Or at least I haven't seen anything in the press like that from him.

He had to trade with Kevin McFAIL. Who else was he gonna trade with? Matt Millen wasn't an NBA GM.

If Ainge is smart, he'll stop screwing with Rondo, before he gets vaporized or worse...

Oh I wasn't saying he was but I'm just saying he was getting praise last year and now... not happening... 1 year doesn't just flip flop someone.
