Danny Ainge scares the crap out of Celtics fans.
Danny Ainge owes a lot of Celtics' fans a new pair of pants today. It is a safe bet that many of them soiled or spat coffee all over their slacks after perusing the Boston Herald this morning. It seems the Celtics have been having discussions about whether to bring Allen Iverson on board. Right, because the Stephon Marbury experiment was so successful, why not go back for seconds?

Red's Army, one the best Celtics blogs out there, had this to say:

I know what Danny said in the paper this morning is going to inspire a lot of people to write the "why we don't need Allen Iverson" type stuff... but can we all just accept that it's not going to happen and move on?  The entire notion is silly.

Sometimes I think Danny and Doc say thing like this just to get riled up so they can have a laugh at our expense throughout the day.

That explains why I am writing a letter to Danny asking for a new pair of pants.

Hey if it helps the rest of the Eastern powers.  The Celtics are only getting older while the rest are looking young,

Wow i can belive that Boston would even think on siging A. I. there are a lot of better players to fit the 6th or 7th slot who are younger plus have a better out look.A.I. i feel he is still a starter not a back up.He will bring down the Celtics

Celtics fans are glad Ainge didnt get A.I.. You cant mess up chemistry by picking up a locker room cancer on board.

I can see how this would play out. Garnett would yell at Iverson like he yelled at Big Baby. Instead of crying like a little bee-yotch, Iverson smacks Garnett, which results in Dana White getting the two to agree to go at it in an MMA match.

I can see this happening!  At first, I thought the idea was preposterous!  Then I thought about it.  This team and the Lakers (maybe the Magic) may be the only teams that Iverson would agree to come otf the bench for because of the possibility of getting a "ring".  The problem is that it may put unjust and needless pressure on Rondo to succeed greatly every game.  It could be good or bad.  He could buckle under the pressure and decrease in his performance or do better.  Either way...is it worth the risk?  Plus what is the guarantee  that Iverson will be satisfied coming off the bench for just one season.  One way...the move could be ingenious...the other way...it could be disasterous!

McHale has been a better GM for the Celtics than Ainge has.

Obviously Knicks passed on him.... taking our garbage before we could even throw it out.  I'm glad Marbury is doing so well for yas..

Iverson can be a great player, he just wouldn't fit on the Celtics, he wants the ball,  so does Rasheed Wallace, Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce, Ray Allen... I won't lie, I think AI is AWESOME but, not for the Celtics.

I know the Cavs were going to have trouble reaching the finals the year, but this kind of move can only help.

Iverson doesn't belong on a good team.  He needs everything to be all about him, and it wouldn't be on the Celtics.
