David Villa’s baby hampers Wenger’s plan to sign him in from Barcelona
Barcelona star David Villa wants to end his Barcelona career with an away move to Arsenal, but the Spaniard is being hindered by an unlikely force. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger told reporters he will not be able to sign in the striker because his wife Patricia is expecting a boy.
The 31-year-old striker wants to move out of Nou Camp as soon as possible. Reportedly, David Villa fancies a move to Arsenal but he will have to remain in Spain as Patricia is due next month.
Nonetheless, David Villa is keen to move to Arsenal in the summers following a depressing spell on the Catalan bench. The Spain international has been given very little time on field since he broke his leg.
Top notch clubs from around Europe have inquired Barcelona on whether David Villa is available for sale. Barcelona won’ stop David Villa from moving away if the striker hands in a transfer request, therefore, it appears as if the Spanish veteran will be at North London next year.
Insiders at Barcelona have confirmed that the Catalan giants are demanding £16 million as transfer fees for David Villa. The La Liga toppers themselves signed in David Villa for £35 million from Valencia in 2010.
Arsene Wenger understands that he can acquire the services of the Spanish goal-scoring legend for a fraction of his actual price if he waits patiently a little while longer.
David Villa, who is the top goal scorer for Spain, scored 128 goals in 217 appearances for Valencia before joining Barcelona where he has scored 40 goals in 96 games.
The dual-footed striker is also attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Tottenham Hotspur, Liverpool, Manchester City, AC Milan and Inter Milan. However, Arsenal are leading the race for his signature and are hot favorites to sign him in the next transfer window.
David Villa has been overlooked from the Barcelona squad since he broke his leg last season. The striker recovered from his injuries a couple of months ago, but has been unable to re-enter the Barcelona team.
