Do you like Oscar De La Hoya better as a boxer or a promoter?
READ MORE:
I think Oscar was a great fighter in his time, but right now I like the fact that he is more on the business side of the sport because I think he will help put an end to all the corruption in the sport. As a figther he dazzled the fans and he always showed he had heart. As a promoter he is setting up awesome matchups and I think he will do just as much for boxing as a promoter as he did as a fighter. Going into business with other fighters like Shane Mosley and Bernard Hopkins is showing boxing has people in it that are not going to destroy the true nature of the sport.

Hi BluDevil, good to know about that of the former Boxer Oscar De La Hoya being a good Promoter with Boxing.

As a box office draw Oscar De La Hoya is the undisputed champ, as a fighter he doesn't even rank in the top 10.  How could he, he's never beaten the top fighters of his era in their prime, except for maybe Ike Quartey.

He didn't beat Trinidad, Mosely or Hopkins.  He beat Vargas after Trinidad beat Vargas for 12 rounds, and he beat  Mayorga after Trinidad destroyed him and De La Hoya picked up the sloppy seconds.  So to say that Oscar was a great fighter is an insult to a great fighter.

A good fighter yes, a great box office draw definitely.

Nice article, I do like Oscar as a boxer, I cannot speak about his business ethics yet.

oscar de-lahoya was a very good fighter who forgot to continue to use his jab!!  oscars jab is and was the best in a very long time--he just didnt throw it out alot like he should of..Even all comintaders said that-"why did oscar stop using his jab, foreman said it all the time we all witnessed its affect when he used it in all 12 rounds.. His corner  is also to blame for not being agressive in telling him to use it a lot more, then everything would follow.  I f oscar is to return to the ring he MUST be 100% sure and in shape at his weight and not suck dwn in weight.   Still manny p--- whooping on mayweather - id love to see that next year 2010 !  manyy p by knock out 8 round NO Where TO Run mayweather--- manyy is what you only wish you could be-- thats a true fighter not runner and talker...     Not only was oscar a very gd fighter hes  seems to be a gd promoter , very fair in paying his fighter a gd wage not like don king and arum, hes very gd as a fighter and as a promoter.... ITS JUST CHANGING OF THE GUARD- ALL SPORTS GO THROUGH IT..

we all saw the oscar trinidad fight.. oscar won even if he gave away the last 5 rounds.. didnt you see trinidads reaction- shoked that he won..we were all shoked oscar lost-   but wich fighters didnt lose when don king was involved??? give oscar credit he did beat vargas- close with mosely(  dont forget mosley is in hot water about steroid use during his fight with oscar then?  yeah you forgot to mention that huh)  be fair ok...   mayweather ran most of the night and oscar beat him to the jab,  mayweather refdused to give a rematch?? what was that not to  return the favor and fight again-- he didnt because he knew in his heart that he  LOST !!! thats why manny .p will knock mayweather out cold next year ,   manny  p is the real deal and mayweather will be knocked out cold- youll see  it in 2010!!!!!!!!!

Seeing dela Hoya's title bout against Pacquiao where he hasn't shown best as what i expected from him, I think he has to spend his time promoting boxing...

Oscar was good for boxing and was great for his weight division, just as Sugar Ray Leonard was in his time. Speaking of time, yes Oscar as most fighter's looked for the glory or couldn't let it go (I don't know which) way beyond his time. Oscar was great boxer for his time and seems well on his way to being a great promoter. As far as Paquiao and Floyd Jr...........if it was my long past grandmother fighting Floyd Jr. I would still pull for grandma.......unlike Ali's trash talk in his day, with Floyd Jr. it's a whole another story and I just pray to live long enough to see someone shut his mouth, and I truely believe Pacquiao is the man to do just that.

Oscar de la Hoya is better as a promoter since he knows how to  put together  big time fights and he was  one of the  good boxers  too.
