The college playoff would be one of the greatest spectacles in sport, but the regular season would be somewhat diluted.
The argument is that a playoff would make the regular season less dramatic since the top 8 or 12 teams would be vying to get in and not just the top 2.
Look at basketball. Who watches college basketball before the tournament except for die-hard fans?
