After Donovan McNabb got hurt in 2002, Andy Reid and the Eagles called up Troy Aikman, while he was in the booth broadcasting a game, and asked if he wanted to play for them to finish out the year. So essentially, Aikman had the post-retirement opportunity to play for the Cowboys' rival... much like Favre playing for the Vikings. As we all know, Aikman turned down the offer, and he says it's because he would rather spend time with his family than in freezing Philly, getting beat up. Good call, Troy.
The decision probably had nothing to do with the team that was trying to acquire him, but rather the many many concussions he received over his career. If I'm not mistaking, he suffered 8 concussions in his career. One more, and he might not be able to do what he is doing now.

I think you are spot on - Troy was way too beat up to come back. He needed to stay off the field.
He knew his nickname was Troy "The young boy" Aikman. If he came out of retirement in 2002, there's no way he would be close to as good as Favre has been so far this season!
Big_country78, you obviously don't know your football. Rings don't quite measure a QB success. If that was the case, Marino never would have made the hall, and Terry Bradshaw would be the best ever(god forbid- he was a good QB on an amazing team... kinda like Aikman)

at least I can read, i never brought anything up about rings, that was some other uniformed fan, you got me twisted.
with logic like that Jay Novacek was a superior TE to someone like Tony Gonzales because Navacek had 3 rings while Gonzales has zero.
yeah great call, not.
with logic like that......what makes favre better than aikman?? what makes any quarterback better than another?? without a good line the best quarterback becaomes the worst. you have to have continuity with receivers as well. ie...montana-rice, aikaman-irvin, favre-freeman, manning-harrison. you get the picture. what kind of criteria are you using? TD/INT ratio?? with this said, what makes one quarterback better than another???
