It's hard to say, but I would have to say no. He never won the Stanley Cup, won a Gold Medal on a loaded Canadian team and was only a 6-time all-star. Sure he had a couple good seasons, but that's not enough of a resume to be elected. Of course he was injured quite often, but you don't elect someone based on "could've beens."
Hmmm, Let Me See, Because Of Lindros And His Not Wanting To Play For Quebec:
- The Quebec Nordiques Became The Colorado Avalanche
- The Colorado Avalanche Became An NHL Powerhouse
- Peter Forsberg Won A Hart Trophy
- Avalanche Won 8 Division Titles
- Avalanche Won 2 Stanley Cups
Well In Other Words, He's Hall of Fame Material...
As a Flyers fan, I guess he's a Hall of Famer because he was one of the two or three most dominating players for a short stretch. It's hard to forgive him and his "captaincy" that yielded nothing. I hope his HOF plaque shows Scott Stevens bashing his shoulder into Lindros's skull.
100% yes. He's won a Hart trophy, a Pearson trophy, 3 world juniors gold, made it to the cup finals, was the most dominant of an era (the so called slow puck era of trap and clutch hockey), 6 All Star games, captained Team Canada, Olympic Gold and Silver and he was the prototype for the modern player (HUGE, fast and great hands). He's also eared respect from the players with his work with the NHLPA as well as donating millions of dollars to concussion research.
It's not his fault he got hurt, those things happen. As far as what happened with Quebec, I blame his parent/agents (one and the same) nto the 18yr old kid who was just following bad advice. Had he done what Heatley is doing it'd be a different story but 18yr old kids make mistakes............
