After a lackluster card in mixed martial arts’ first network television card in 13 months, the legendary Russian and the upstart American put on a memorable slugfest that ended with Emelianenko stopping Rogers in the second round.
1. Free fights on CBS. Hopefully Showtime will do the same with some boxing.
2. A KO in the last fight. The lead up fights weren't all that great. Especially that middleweight title bout.
hey cheesy, fedors hand speed plus your inabilty to get out of the way equals knockout, jackass!
muah, i've been in some serious fights involving soccer games in england, germany, netherlands and that's worse than MMA. the other thing i've done some MA myself, Judo 9 years, Taekwondo 16 years, Muay Thai 8 years. plus i know what he's capable to do, he'll see a man who should drop 25lbs, with some tattoo's and way to old to step into his ring.
i can't say that i was disappointed by the all the fights but i can't say that i was wowed by them either. that was a massive punch by Fedor though! i wanted to puke after seeing Mayhem dancing with all those cheerleaders, what a joke. i thought i was watching Smackdown there for a second.

That was my exact thought, along with "I hope this douche does not win this fight."
Went in rooting for the underdog in Rogers...afterwards even more respect for FEDOR and thinking Rogers has no class, respect, and is just a flat out idiot. He gives no respect to arguably the greatest fighter on the planet and says if he threw more he would have won. The guy is such a knucklehead that he does not realize that what he has been doing is no different than what Kimbo was doing. Anyway, just hate to see disrespect especially when someone just got dropped by someone way smaller than them. That to me is just a complete and total punk move. He does not deserve a rematch. FEDOR now knows what he is about and would pick him apart the next tiem. Also FEDOR knows he will come in "throwing more" and will just drop him earlier than last night.
it wasn't really a lack of class he was just saying he had a chance to win if he changed up his gameplan a little bit within the fight, and fedor wasn't landing KO punches at will he just knows how to set them up right over a long period of time, this does show that fedor is still the greatest HW around though
Rogers did do pretty well though, it's kind of how i figured the fight would go, rogers pound on fedor for a while just like arvlovski did and then Fedor will pull out a big KO when things start to look rough

That is a matter of opinion on the class part. Anybody that is a fan or is involved with boxing or MMA in any form, knows that a big, strong, fast puncher is capable of pulling off a win at any time. I get what you are saying and what he said. And your opinion is just fine as I am sure others may feel the same. I boxed when I was young, and was involved in competetive sports since I was just a little guy. My personal opinion is that you always give your opponent respect, especially when he beats you, but even in victory.
Not judging you Alex...that is your opinion and I am not saying it is wrong. Just stating my opinion and that is the way I grew up to feel as an adult. Thats all. Guess I just have an old school respect for competition and competitors.
Basically, Fedor earned his respect a long time ago. He is still earning it time and time again. It is fine to say, I could have done this or I should have done this. Fact is he didn't and Fedor hit him with a punch that was just a total highlight reel in itself. How does anyone, especially another competitor, not give him his props for that? That is where my issue is with Rogers.
But again, to each his own. I know Rogers and guys like Lesnar could not give a damn what I think. And to them, I know how I was raised and I know I was raised to have sportsmanship and respect. Does that matter...not to most. It is a lifestyle choice. Rogers will get bank...and so will Lesnar. They will both go down as awesome fighters and will be remembered for a long time. To me that is sad, but that is the way it is and I simply say that people with no respect will eventually have their day and will be beat and hurt by someone.
this is all true enough and i agree in giving respect to competitors, but i'm not so sure he meant it in a way like saying "well i would of had it except..." i don't think he wanted to take anything away from fedor, it's just that sometimes when you lose you get down on yourself and having just been hit with that huge punch who could blame him for just speaking what was going through his mind, i mean i know after stuff like that i always run through my mind what i did wrong and what i should have done right after ward, and although i agree you shouldn't be saying well i would have won if..., because the fact is you got beat, no way around it but nonethless i don't think thats how they meant it
brock is the way he is because of how amped up gets for these competitions, in his fight with mir everyone built it up like he was bound to lose since he already lost once, and when he won so quick, all that aggressiveness and intensity that he built up his mind just before the fight just exploded when it ended so quickly;
the overall message here is that rogers and even lesnar are both respectful (rogers more so than lesnar) when they get out of the cage and outside, there just all jacked up on emotion when they're in their and i don't think they should be judged to harshly for what they say or do when things are running so hot as they are in that cage (or ropes)
To all those people jacking on Mayhem if you ever saw Strikeforce fights before then you would know that thats just his personality and I though it was pretty funny. He almost beat Jake with that RNC luckly Jake was saved by the clock. Mayhem was also doing a lot better then I though on the ground with Shields, but he stood no chance against Shield spectaculer wrestling.

I hope people realize that he may be a goof, but he is and always has been, a good fighter. This fight proved it.
I was at the fight... IMO nobody has what it takes to beat Fedor. The whole crowd was behind him. He's too good in every area of MMA. If he isn't going to knock you out, he is ripping your limbs off to make you submit.
I walked away from the night losing some respect for Jake Shields. He won the wrestling match and not the fight. He has no standup skills. He would be murdered if he fought in the UFC. Anderson Silva would completely embarrass him. Mayhem is a bit eccentric, but he always walks out to something crazy. It's his personality. Have you watched Bully Beatdown? He is nuts, the crowd loved him. After the fight, Shields made a victory lap around the ring and was treated to the Sears Centre booing him. There were some good fights that night. It was a decent card....live.
I had my doubts but I'm gonna say it, Brett Rogers is a monster. Nobody lately has done that well versus Fedor. I would like to see a Brett Rogers vs. Antonio Silva fight, that is a sure-fire KO

I will give you that...you explain great points and don't give up until you get them all across. I respect that. So now that Rogers is out of the cage....i am waiting to see him say something about Fedor in a positive light. Then I will give you that on him completely. As for Lesnar, well I understand amped up. I do. I remember before every boxing match and even before every Varsity football game I was unapproachable by anyone before and immediately after. But I did not open my mouth until my testosterone came down to normal levels. But to each their own. And I know that one on one fighting gets one amped more than any team sport. So I definately understand and appreciate your sentiments.
I will be looking for Rogers comments in the aftermath.

Yeah, I hate that "saved by the clock" rule. It should be like it is in boxing. If the clinch is in you have to break it or tap, but the bell can't save you. Just like if the ref is counting to 10 in boxing, he does not stop when the bell rings. You either beat the count or you lose, period. That's just a sucky way to do a guy who worked hard and locked in the RNC.

hopefully he will give his respect in the post-fight interviews, i mean he did seem completely respectful of fedor in the pre-fight interviews, i don't really remember the details but i seem to remember him saying in general that fedor was the best there was and brett called himself the first real threat in a long time
to me that implied rogers was giving him a lot of respect and i don't see why he wouldn't now that the fight is over, i mean he said he was going to knock him out (even claiming 2:30 of the first round) but there are very few fighters (almost never americans) go out there and say there just gonna put up a hard fight and may the best man win; most fighters assure themselves and visualize victory as their method to achieve it so one can hardly blame anyone for saying things like that
but hopefully he will pay his respects, fedor certainly deserves them, and it never seemed to me like brett had anything but respect for the man he called "the number one guy"
