Florida State safety Myron Rolle accepts Rhodes Scholarship over NFL
Florida St. safety Myron Rolle will go to Oxford over the NFL, then open a medical clinic in the Bahamas. Suck it Tebow.
Florida State safety Myron Rolle has decided to accept his Rhodes scholarship rather than head to the NFL.

Amazing, an actual student-athlete and a testament of true character.  Wish him the best

......and I'm sure it had nothing to do with him being projected as a second day pick......I'm kidding. That's awesome. Rolle states that he will enter the 2010 NFL Draft. I hope his clinic and medical studies are such a success that he doesn't need to go to the NFL. Maybe some of those players looking for a tax shelter will get Mr.Rolle the money he needs to continue his good work.

How did Myron not get any more publicity for his achievments than he has in the media?  He's been a great story the entire season, and I would rather see information about his accomplishments than some of the other crap that ESPN reports

I guess he wasn't a big enough story, huh?

On the flip side, I tip my hat to you Geoff.  You've pretty much been on top of all of his stories throughout the season.  Suck it ESPN.

He stayed out of the strip clubs and doesn't drink and drive, so there is no story for ESPN...

Good for him, I hope he does well...

It is refreshing to hear something good coming out of college athletics.  He is what a student athlete should be.

I remember when he was virtually a lock to attend Notre Dame and he preached about how important academics were.  Well, he decided to attend FSU and many of the ND faithful were up in arms calling BS on his 'preaching academics.'  I'm glad to see he practiced what he preached...and shut up a few of the Notre Dame homers from our fan sites!

This is a great read.    And imagine, a true "student athlete"...........going to Florida St !!

Nothing against Florida St, but one might think of other schools first when hearing about someone like this !

Ive heard about this kid since the beginning of his Rhodes Scholarship run. But maybe thats because im in North Florida. Ive heard it on ESPN before this week too. And they have given this young man props. But since there isnt really a way to have a continuance on a story like this it doesnt take that long to talk about it.  Heres why:

Congrats to you sir for being such an academic inspiration to all African American as well as the remaining Americans in the US and setting the bar as high as you did. Hopefully this will encourage student athletes to focus on schooling rather than just football. Good luck to you Mr Rolle.

Yeah that will be the day. I doubt that very much! If that happens then George W. Bush was the best president we've had. Go Seminoles!

Rolle was considered the #1 by prospect when he was at the Hun School of Princeton NJ, at least in part due to his character and academics, however when he received 4th-6th round grades from the NFL it is much like the grading when Charley Ward was coming out when he  or any other player is considered to not be 100% committed to football, from what I hear from scouts if Rolle is evaluated on talent alone he would be the 4th safety on the board and a mid top late 2nd round pick.
