Floyd Mayweather beat Miguel Cotto by unanimous decision

Miguel Cotto wasn't able to finish the job, but for a few brief moments, Floyd Mayweather Jr. actually looked somewhat human.

Cotto gave Mayweather a bloody nose in the 6th round, and even prompted Mayweather to commend him on his toughness after the fight.

Mayweather won via unanimous decision, with the judges scoring it 117-111, 117-111, and 118-110. After the fight, Cotto expressed disagreement with the judge's scoring.

Immediately after the fight, Mayweather said that he wanted to fight Manny Pacquiao and give the fans what they want to see. Later, in the post-fight press conference, he backtracked a bit, saying the fight was never going to happen.

Still, he blamed it on Pacquiao and promoter Bob Arum, saying that Pacquiao has to answer to Arum, who will never let the fight happen, while Mayweather answers to no one but himself.

Still, it seems like one of the sticking points was that Pacquiao wanted an even split of the fight revenue. Mayweather was unwilling to offer that, saying that he generally gets higher PPV numbers than Pacquiao.

Regardless of how the money is split, a Mayweather-Pacquiao fight would be the most lucrative in boxing history, and both men would make far more than they would against any other opponent.

Mayweather took home a record $32M for the Cotto fight, and says he offered Pacquiao $40M to fight, which means Mayweather's cut would be even more, setting up for a payday of unprecedented levels for both fighters. We'll see if they ever make it happen.
