Guess who's not getting a replay? Guess what the worst organization in sports is?
Despite pleas from the FAI, the Irish Prime Minister, and even Thierry Henry himself (http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/story?id=701150&sec=worldcup2010&cc=5901), the Death Star that is FIFA rejected Ireland's proposition to replay their game vs France. Their response was this:

"In the reply, FIFA states that the result of the match cannot be changed and the match cannot be replayed. As is clearly mentioned in the Laws of the Game, during matches, decisions are taken by the referee and these decisions are final."

So FIFA is copping out and fails to admit a clear error. What a shame for the Irish team, and hopefully someone can step in, or France could step up and reject their World Cup bid (if that is possible).

FIFA is the one to blame. Obviously. They are the governing bodies. They make the rule. Doesn't matter at all wheter the French or Irish pleaded for a rematch, they suppose to find a solution for the sake of the sport in the favour for both team. I am pretty sure Blatter have seen the footage of the incident in the match. They should do something about it.
Unfortunately, like what Celticfc411 said, nothing will change. And unfortunately, mistakes like this for sure will keep on happening in football.

As much as I think they should replay the game, I guess it would be a huge precedent set to do it. I mean, MLB would never replay a game simply because a home run call was missed. No one in the USA ever considered replaying the Orioles/Yankees game when that Maiers kid reached over the wall and the Yanks were awarded a home run. I believe France should agree to a replay (which they refuse to do), but FIFA can't replay the game.

Not really, the FA Cup final was replayed in 1999. And that was sanctioned by FIFA. While it was club teams and not national teams, it was still a replay sanctioned by FIFA.

I don't think FIFA is the wort organization in sports. Clearly, the NHL takes that prize. But I will say the problem here is not FIFA it is France. If the French would have pleaded with FIFA for a replay along with the Irish, I think it would have happened. But the French soccer bosses didn't listen to Henry or many of the other members of the national team who argued for a replay. They'll take it however they can get it, apparently. So I hope they reap what they've sown when the cup begins.

That is the problem with the French and other top national teams.  None of them wants to lose to a lesser team.  One of the top soccer players in the world is asking for a replay, thus he should have some influence in the FIFA world.

Not if I get there first.

Anyways, I'm torn on what should be done. Those who say that playing the match over could set a dangerous precedent have a valid argument. As do those who say that if there ever were an appropriate time for a replay, this would be it.

I'm going to split the blame between France and FIFA (sorry Roy Keane, just shut up for once and stop raining on the country you represented). The French Federation should have requested a replay. Had they done so, they would have my undying respect. And to be honest, I think the French would win a replay. In a winner-take-all in Paris, my money is on Les Bleus.

But I'm going to hang a lot of blame on FIFA. So often they take the convenient way out, without regard for what is right with the game. And this is a prime example. Sepp Blatter, as president of FIFA, has the leadership abilities of a tomato.
And FIFA is responsible for the referees and linesmen. That the officials could miss first the offsides, and then the blatant double handball, reflects poorly upon FIFA.

Unfortunately, nothing will change. And the Irish will wonder what could have been. Hopefully France will match their performance in 2002 with a 3 and out
