well, looks like Gillett Evernham is losing Scott Riggs to Haas CNC Racing. The car he will be taking over has not been announced yet, nor has a replacement for Riggs at GEM been announced either..
I've never seen the performances and results from him. I don't think anyone thinks too highly of him, but really he's nothing more than a good Busch series driver.
Its hard to argue against those numbers, but I just can't see Riggs being better. I have to admit some bias - Sauter did race at my local track for a year - but I'd say that Riggs has still had equal, if not better, cars than Sauter and Green this year. Plus, I would think even Riggs fans would admit that if he is an improvement, it is minimal.
I think Scott Riggs is not the anwser. I think johnny Sauter in the cot has been doing a good job. Jeff Green is not that good in cup racing he has had chances with good and great teams. Like DEI and RCR we will throw out his time at Petty enterprises. He should look for a truck ride or Busch but he is not good enough for cup and hes had a lot of time. I think haas cc shoulda sold everything to get Kyle Busch. Haas CC uses everything Hendrick and Hass CC built the new moving wind tunnel to share with hendrick. Scott Riggs is not the anwser and how many cars is haas going to run. They have 2 in the top 35 for next year. What about someone like Steven Leicht to drive one of those cars there is at least 10 drivers in Busch and Truck that are a better choice than Scott Riggs. If you want me to name them I can!
All good and valid points. I honestly expected Evernham to try some new things during the Chase, and see some improvement, maybe even a Kasey Kahne win, but that doesn't look like its happening. I don't know what to think of Evernham right now, its a pretty ugly situation. I think they'll improve next year, but I think it will be a slow improvement. It'll definitely be an interesting situation to watch.
