Has Carlos Zambrano pitched his last game as a Chicago Cub?

Let's be honest, nothing has been going right for the Chicago Cubs this season.  Injuries, an anemic offense and a porous pitching staff have led to off the field spats between Lou Piniella and Chicago White Sox announcer Steve Stone and today, an on the field/in the dugout spat between livewire Carlos Zambrano and Derrek Lee.

Truth be told, it was only a matter of time before Zambrano imploded.  In the middle of a $91 million dollar deal he signed in 2007, Zambrano was demoted to the bullpen earlier this year and struggled mightily as a reliever.  The Cubs finally put him back into the rotation and the results have been much of the same.

Today, everything came to a head as Zambrano went off in the dugout after giving up 4 first inning runs to the White Sox.  The player in direct line of that verbal tirade was Derrek Lee, who Zambrano thought should've stopped a ball hit by Juan Pierre that opened the flood gates.  Zambrano and Lee had to be separated by Piniella, Cubs pitching coach Larry Rothschild and bench coach Allan Trammel.  Zambrano was then pulled from the game and immediately sent home by Cubs GM Jim Hendry pending an investigation.

Is it time for the Cubs to cut there losses?  Can they find a team willing to take on such a hefty contract?  Has Big Z seen his last action as a Chicago Cub?
