Hedo Turkoglu opts out of contract with the Magic
Hedo Turkoglu opts out of his contract with the Magic, leaving his options open

This doesn't necessarily mean that he is leaving the Magic. He could still re-sign with them, but at a higher salary than if he didn't opt out.

That being said, he'll probably be gone, now that Vince Carter is in town.

The Vince Carter trade definitely complicates things for Hedo and the Magic, but they did free up enough space to have the ability to re-sign him at least.  The Magic are pretty stocked at the #2 and #3 positions though (depending on where Rashard Lewis plays) but since they moved Courtney Lee in the Carter deal, Hedo should still be a very high priority.  I still think Detroit or Portland will try hard to sign Hedo, at a price the Magic may not be able to match.

Well said. I'd like to also wait and see if Cleveland is bold enough to go after him. I can only imagine...

I think it'd be a bad move for Hedo to go anywhere else.. SVGs style compliments Hedo's game better than any other team and if he stays then he'll have another shot at a title some next year or after that.. Remember the magic can sign him at a high price because of luxury tax.

Yeah Shaq, Lebron, Hedo? Dang.

They do seem to be setting themselves up for a one year (an only one year) run at a title, so that is an intriguing thought.  I don't think they have enough to pay him since the Shaq deal definitely has them paying the luxury tax next year, but they still may make some moves.  My money is still on Detroit, Toronto, or Portland for now though.

Detroit will get him, 'cause they are gonna overpay.

I agree. This will be Shaq's(37 yrs 4mths old)  last productive season. Lebron knows it too. I say pay the luxury tax and bring all the pieces in to make it happen next season.

They've got to.  The Shaq trade showed that it's a one and done year, and many jobs will be on the line as a result (namely Mike Brown's).  They could have went after Tyson Chandler, who is much younger, and try to gain leverage in keeping LeBron after the season.  Now if they win it will be a complete dismantling (they only have 3 guys under contract after this season) and if they don't LeBron will go onto greener pastures (or taller buildings).  I agree, they should go all in since they appear headed that way already.

If the Lakers fail to re-sign Odom, don't be shocked if they make a run at him, or even if they lost Ariza, Odom could become a starter at 4, Turkoglu will be attractive to many, the Bulls also will take a long hard look.

Just like magic, Orlando has made their Finals chances disappear.

I think that the Chicago Bulls should go after him possibly Cleveland for 1 year because we all know shaq or not championship or not Lebron James is out of Cleveland. But if hedo is smart and will take less pay, he would stay with Orlando. I mean Nelson, Howard,Carter,Hedo,Lewis thats a all star starting 5..but letting some of the young guys go to get carter will reduce their bench productivity so they would still need to find some position players to fill in the gaps so the 5 can rest. Detroit would'nt be a good fit for hedo because of the way they run their offense. Hedo needs to be with a face paced running team and I think Pistons are more of a setup team.

i say he should leave the magic. i'm not sure where he'd go, but he needs to go to a better paying team and a team where he fits in better.
