Houston Rockets still have nothing to do with Tracy McGrady
So... the draft has come and gone... what will the Rockets do with Tracy McGrady?
12
The Rockets are in a bit of a predicament with T-Mac. He still has some ability, and his contract is huge. So they want him, but they really don't, because they would like to unload that contract.

They can do that, however, as they prepare for the incredibly hyped 2010 free agent class, which might be their best bet. But Yao Ming might walk away as well. BUT... judging by Yao's history of injury, that might not be such a bad thing, other than the fact that they would have to rebuild like crazy.

So the Rockets are on a precipice... somewhere between the desperate need to win now, and building for the future, which they might have to do anyway.

What should they do?

Drive him out to the woods and leave him there.  .   .

Find another running mate for Yao and the Crazy One.

Make a move for Sessions, let him play some point and 2, make a run at Ariza and figure out which of the 2-3 teams that are interested in T-Mac will give you the most, they should have gotten to the Spurs before the Jefferson deal T-Mac would have done well in giving them what they've lacked, post Sean Elliot.

If McGrady were willing to become a less selfish player, he'd be a good addition. Unfortunately, I don't see him effective without the rock.

I say go ahead and bite the 23 million dollar bullet next year (who knows, the idea of getting that "never been out the first round" monkey off his back may actually be motivation), dump him on his ever-loving face, and be in real good cap position for the 2010 Free Agent Sweepstakes. They won't get LeBron, but D-Wade or Chris Bosh could look good in Rocket Red.

This is a reach, but is there anyone in Houston willing to sit T-Mac down one more time and ask if he wants to win a championship or not?  His place in history is on the line.

There are a lot of team inquiring about Tracy, however: Morley is looking for the right deal. Give it time.
