So, Michael Crabtree is now officially a (very wealthy) 49er. I'm admittedly pretty excited about this. But then I thought, wait a second. This guy got a broken foot at the end of last year. Then he missed all of training camp and our first four games.
While I doubt he was lounging around eating donuts the last few months, there's no way he'll be ready for the NFL anytime in the next several weeks. He'll probably just be getting his sea legs when the season ends.
So, while I'm excited, I'm suddenly not quite as excited. I don't have real high expectations for Crabtree for this year (but next year, oh yes). But what do you think? Star NFL receivers typically start slow their rookie year, then start to make the leap in year two or three. How will Crabtree fare this year, and long term? And does anyone else think Singletary is going to be all over Crabtree forever now?
