This is a non-story.  If you're shocked by this, you'd be shocked by anything.  ESPN will continue to put this story out there all week though, only because OJ Mayo has an unlikable personality.

Did anybody else watch the OTL piece?  I actually garnered a whole new respect for OJ.  I usually right off country bumpkins from the boonies of West Virginia has criminals and thugs but he was propositioned and brainwashed while he was still in middle school.  But with the helpful guidance of his mom he's cut ties with a lot of those people and it's unfortunate ESPN is trying to paint such a negative picture.  Their main source of the story is a guy who's obviously bitter he's not involved with OJ anymore.

And the way he's handled the situation actually has him RISING on a lot of teams draft boards.  I became an OJ Mayo fan in the blink of an eye, I didn't like him at all yesterday.  He's a good kid.

Is this the story that finally gets the NCAA to investigate USC?

Why just USC?  Are you lumping this in with the Reggie Bush fiasco?  Maybe that's warranted, but I stand by the fact that OJ is a good kid and ESPN should be ashamed to have put him on the spot like that.  He's not in the NBA yet.

Well it was more so that the NCAA didn't do anything about the Bush thing. So another "story" (ESPN creation) might finally get the NCAA out to USC to at least look around.

So after finally seeing the report on Sportscenter, I agree with you about the guy being bitter about OJ not wanting to hang with him anymore. Also, I am sick of ESPN doing that gotcha/Bill O'Riley style reporting, where they send some lower level "reporter" to surprise the person the report is about, like they did with OJ and Miguel Tejada. I lost what all the respect I had for OTL.
