Iowa loses to Northwestern 17-10
Iowa's luck finally runs, as they lose to Northwestern at home
Well, I think we all were pretty sure that Iowa's ridiculous string of good luck was going to end eventually. They were easily the worst undefeated team in a major conference this late in the season that I've ever seen.

Anyway, to cut to the chase, what helped Northwestern was that they knocked Ricky Stanzi out of the game in the second quarter with a high ankle sprain. Stanzi's backup proceeded to go 9/27 with a pick.

Northwestern, meanwhile, wasn't exactly awesome either. They racked up a pathetic 239 yards of total offense, but hey, they won, so whatever. (And they're now bowl eligible! Insight.com Bowl here we come!)

But Iowa has finally been exposed for what they are, a team that got extremely lucky for the majority of this season.

Thanks goodness Iowa's luck ran out.  After they lose to Ohio State next week, I assume they'll be ranked at 15 or below going into bowl season.

One of my co-workers is a diehard Iowa Hawkeye fan and for once, I'm happy to say that i'm excited to go to work on Monday.

You knew it was coming, just a question of which team was going to be the one to hand them their first loss.  You're absolutely right, the Steeler wannabes Hawkeyes were finally exposed.

Not a surprise. The Little eleven will not be in title consideration, thank god.

Amen to that - this loss to an unranked Northwestern team plus almost losing to a crappy Indiana should knock them out of the top 20....

I have been telling everyone that NWU owns Iowa and are likely to beat them next year.

They're frauds because they finally got exposed, starting QB injured or not.  They were the lousiest undefeated team in the country, and it finally caught up to them.

Iam thinking Stanzi seen this coming and decided if he was called the missing link "watching the game instead of playing" it would look better on him than playing and turning the ball over a couple more times.

Iowa sucks, they will lose themselves right out of a BCS Bowl when they lose next week at The Ohio State University.

Yep, so did Cincinnati in their toughest game of the season against a ranked team, on the road, on national television. The Bearcats however recruited Zach Colloras who has yet to lose a football game since he was in junior high. That's why the Bearcats were always a better team than Iowa this year.

Ya knew the haters would come out the woodwork as soon as they lost . Did it really even matter cause even if they went unbeaten they were not gonna get to play in the Championship game . They still my dogs!!

The Bearcats can play with anybody, they are deep, faster than most seem to think and coached by a top 10 staff, Collaros is a good enough athlete that he was recruited by some schools as a DB, he is like a faster more polished Grothe or a mini-Tebow with cleaner passing mechanics and better straight-line speed, about 4.61.  The most overlooked part of UC is the defense which has 3-4 future professionals.

I do worry though that they can be worn down...UConn kinda presented a blueprint on how to beat the Bearcats. UConn's enormous O-Line just wore them out. A team like Florida would bludgeon them with power runs handing to Moody and Tebow with the odd misdirection to Rainey/Demps and the Gators defense is good enough to keep Cincy's scoring down to a crawl. ...Not sure the Bearcats could beat Bama or Florida but they could easily stay in a shootout with Texas. What do you think?
