Is radical Islam already a problem in the US?
READ MORE:
Faleh Almaleki thought his daughter was becoming "too westernized" and decided to deliver his idea of justice running over his daughter and her boyfriends mother with a pick up truck.  The young lady has now died and her father is under arrest.  With incidents like this and the shootings at Fort Hood it is getting more and more difficult to portray Islam as a "peaceful" religion.

What do you think?

See, this is another example of the US needing to have a policy when it comes to immigration. If they don't want to adopt our ways then they have to go back to where ever the came from.

Is it really radical islam???  I think it is the norm for them, but they have brought it into our country where we promise freedom of religion.  I guess they think that means for them to kill in the name of religion is ok here.  Somebody needs to set them straight.

We could  pick and choose people from all religions and pretend that they are the mainstream for that religion, but that's just unfair.  We don't even know if his being a Muslim had anything to do with what happened.

I know someone will respond by saying look at the Middle East.  Its a different ball game over there.  The overwhelming majorities over there are both uneducated and poor.  Its an easy breeding ground for extremism because of that.  Religion (as well as nationalism) is one of the easiest calling cards for extremism.  If that area of the world was predominantly Hindu, Scientology, or even Christian it would be just as extreme of an area as it is now.  We need to stop taking narrow-minded views to look for explanations and see the broader issues.

AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Because of certain political bents, we have dumbed down, pacified, and even ignored certain groups or organizations in this country in the name of PC!  My thing to new immigrants or religious groups or ideologies.......if you are SO far out of the realm of normal or you choose not to incorporate yourselves in our society..........then GO THE HELL BACK to where you came from!

So, I guess, when Major Kareem Abdul Jabbar Skyhook was yelling "Allah Ackbar" and shooting unarmed soldiers in the service he was serving in, then his RELIGION had absolutely nothing to do with it!  Neither did the seminars of "converting the infidels" at Walter Reed Hospital!     Wake up or grow up!

I agree with this brother.  Radical is just what it says.  However, we must not confuse all sectors of Islam or rather equate all sectors with being radicals.  That simply is not the case.  I don't know the actual breakdown of the different sects of Islam; but, I do know some very good, high principled and valued with good morals brothers who are Islamic and do not agree with or support radicalism.

Unchecked xenophobia reigns supreme. To those like Carl and Cuddles who seem to want to generalize that all Islam is radical by definition, I just want to ask you, do you actually know any Muslims? You're exercising the same kind of prejudiced generalizations that I would be if I judged all Christians by those who bomb abortion clinics (or by the Inquisition or the Crusades for that matter; also, by how both slavery and the genocide of Native Americans were justified in this country by "Christian principles"); if you want to be your own kind of radical Nativists (the old "they have to act like us or go home" argument), I hope none of your ancestors were Irish immigrants, because, you know, they got shunned here too.

Jason... different time, different place.  You can continue to bury your head in the "PC" sand and claim to be so offended by people who voice their opinion about an obvious, growing, problem.  If the media didn't bury all the stories about Islamic extremism in the US, you may have another view.  Don't forget 9/11.... the guy running over his daughter and his daughter's boyfriend's mother...... the guy at Fort Hood, the guy who ran over a bunch of college students at UNC a couple of years ago.  What you don't seem to understand is that there are many, many mosques in this country where there are Imams preaching hatred for everything western.

It is a shame that so many people have blinders on the name of political correctness.  Are all Muslims extremists? No .... but more and more most extremists are Muslims.  I hope that our Country wakes up to the fact that most Muslims leaders despise the western style of life, would like to eliminate it and would like to have young women and women in general kept out of the public eye, not drive, not go to school..... if you think this is not the case, I think you are mistaken.

I do not judge any person by the color of their skin or by their religion but by the content of their character.  I don't see too many Muslims coming out and crying out about these atrocities. I am also not naive enough not to see that this is a growing problem in many countries around the world......
