They have just deminished the worth of every jersey they have ever or will ever retire - it is a crime and a shame.  How many "props" do you think Durant will EVER give Texas in his upcoming "star studded" career?

Why not?  He's one of the best, if not the best, to ever go through Texas.

Who can tell after one year - sure, he had a fantastic one, but he did it so he could play in the NBA - and that is the only reason - he didn't care if it was Texas or any other school.  There are kids that it was their dream to go to Texas - and to play ball for Texas - and this guy walks on, pretty much makes a mockery of the college experience, and gets his number retired... if that is how they do it then they need to develop certain benchmarks - and once you hit then then you get your number retired - don't hit 'em, don't get your number retired.  You can't tell me it is all about numbers...

That certainly would be the most fair way to do it.  However, I would assume that it would take about 2 years before fans started begging for exceptions.

More like 2 games!  The average fan doesn't know what in the hell they want... they just know they want it and they want it now.  That is what makes sports so damn much fun and so damn frustrating - so much of it is subjective, and left up to interpretation.  As long as people can continue to agree to disagree and still buy each other a beer when it is all over, then life is good!
