Jason Giambi is headed back to the A's. The deal would pay Giambi, who started his major league career in Oakland, $5.25 million in 2009 with a $4 million base salary for the option year in 2010. The second year would also provide for a $1.25 million buyout.
I bet if Giambi had it to do over again, he never would have left Oakland.
I bet he would. He never would have got paid like he did with the Yankees from the A's. The only reason he is coming back is because he has nowhere else to go.
I really hope he works out and does well. If he can regain some form, they would have a formidable one two punch of him and Holliday.
He's still a solid OBP guy. And he did have 32 hr's and 96 rbi's last season. Even if he falls off slightly, he should still be formiddibal in that lineup. For 5.5 million it's worth it.
