Jason Kidd will be pursued by several teams in free agency
Jason Kidd, at 36 years old, is apparently still a big free agent commodity
24
Jason Kidd is about to hit the free agent market, and there are quite a few teams that are interested in him. Some of the teams don't seem to make a lot of sense, however. The Celtics? Wouldn't it make more sense to stick with Rajon Rondo and try to strengthen their frontcourt depth? Or the Cavaliers... is Kidd really a better option than Mo Williams at this point in their respective careers? I'm not sure about that...

LA ?    A 1-year deal, and have him & Fisher split time and save some wear-n-tear on their bodies........... ????

He shot 40% from 3.   It actually seems like there is a "J" in Jason Kidd.

Kidd is a much better shooter than he was 10 years ago, however he's no longer a top 5 defender at his position, if he's willing to be a reserve he makes sense on several contenders like Orlando, perhaps even LA if they lose Shannon Brown, though I think they want to go young like Sessions there, if he goes to the Cavalier that shows a 'Win Now Before We Lose LeBron' mentality has taken hold.

the celtics y not have Mr Triple double teach Rondo more than wha he knows now, i think it would make senses to have a veteran pg teach the young upcoming Mr. Triple double

It's a weak free agent class and Kidd is one of the best available. Their are many teams that are desperate to win now (Celtics, Cavs) and he would make a solid PG and leader. I'm not sure how well it would go considering all the elite point guards in the league run circles around him.

Rondo won't accept lessons from a man who can't stay in front of him.

the Mavs will probably offer the most money because basically they have no other decent option, unless they get Raymond Felton or Ramon Sessions. So, it's either overpay for a tough 36-year old that still knows what he's doing or overpay for a young guy that's maybe only marginally better than JJ Barea with better size.

Yeah, I don't see that the Mavs have much choice this year other than to bring back J-Kidd.

Jason Kidd?? He used to play ball with Moses and Aaron!!! He averaged 9PPG last season. The Mavs can do better than that.

Trade Him Back To The Mavericks....

Of course they can get a better scorer at the 1 position. The key is can they do as well as 8.7 ASSISTS a game.

Trade him from where? He's a free agent.

Don't be naive. If Jason wants to be effective putting up 9ppg and 8.7 apg...he's in the wrong conference. Steve Nash, Tony Parker and Chris Paul will run circles around him all day. He'll have to learn to shoot all over again. Don't get me wrong, Jason was a great guard. Too bad his age(worn down body) is giving him a run for his money.

You're telling me not to be naive while equating scoring with defense. The real issue is that he's not quick enough to stay with Chris Paul and Tony Parker, not that he can't outscore them. He NEVER could outscore them and doesn't need to outscore them.

Dallas is going to attempt to get younger at the position at some point, and it's going to be a given that their next PG will be able to score more than Kidd, but they won't get any better unless they get a guy that has HALF his passing prowess.

If scoring was that important, they'd just leave JJ Barea in. He can average 18 pts a game as a starter, no sweat.

Sorry, he's no longer that complete player. It's not just about scoring as much as it's not just about his apg or defense. It's about his complete game. He no longer has it. His journey is over!

You are the one that singled out his scoring. I'm just saying that he's never been an efficient scoring option, so it's irrelevant.

If you had said "Jason Kidd?? He used to play ball with Moses and Aaron!!! He's not a two-way player anymore. The Mavs can do better than that." I would have whole-heartedly agreed with you.

Kidd needs to come to Boston. He's too old and worn out to start, but he could play backup for Rondo. In my mind, he's similar to Cassell. He's been in the league so long, he has a bunch of very valuable lessons to teach Rondo. Plus, if the Celtics have a healthy team and a good backup point guard (as in NOT Marbury) they have a good chance at being the 2010 Champs. And Kidd doesn't need to sign like a lifetime contract or anything. I would say he has a good 2 or 3 years left in him, but that's it. So whoever does sign him wouldn't want to sign more than a 2 or 3 year contract with him. If he's still playing well, then maybe give him another short contract, but I think 2 or 3 years might even be pushing the limit a little bit.
