Jermaine Dye trade rumors, San Francisco Giants interested
More Jermaine Dye trade rumors; are the Giants going after him?
The San Francisco Giants are reportedly scouting Jermaine Dye, which is just another sign that the White Sox slugger is probably on his way out of town.

Could the Giants hold on to the Wild Card spot (they're currently leading the Wild Card race) with another big bat like Dye?

I think Dye is exactly the kind of thing that just may keep the Giants in the race. The certainly could use the bat.

The Giants need to do something to score some runs. They have one of the best pitching staffs in the bigs and besides Sandoval they are worthless with the bat.

We need someone, and as long as we don't give up anyone on our pitching staff, I'm good with it.

Dye really helped the A's out a few years back in a deadline deal, and would be a good fit for the Giants as well.  The Giants may need to put their development of some of the young guys on hold or on a delay, because their pitching has really kept them in the thick of things.  I just hope they wouldn't give up too much of their youth to land Dye, but it may be a risk worth taking.  If they make the playoffs with that rotation, they will be a very dangerous team.

That thought has been running through my puny little brain as well. He makes the most sense to deal. It will suck seeing him go, but the farm system needs more young talent.

Being the fatalist I am, I know the Sox will heat up, get back into the race and then proceed to endure a crash and burn of biblical proportions. Which the only good that will come out of it will be some epic Ozzie tirades. Tirades that may include the use of either a tranq gun, or hostage negotiators to end them.

His home/road splits this year and in 2008 really favors the hitter-friendly Cellular Field. I don't think he'll have the same success in a pitcher-park's field division.
