Jimmy Clausen involved in bar altercation

Notre Dame has had a season to forget and things got worse early Sunday morning following the loss to UConn.  Star quarterback Jimmy Clausen had a Joe Kane moment after being involved in a fight at a South Bend watering hole.  Details are sketchy, but it looks a though Jimmy caught the worst of it.

UPDATE: ESPN is reporting that Clausen was punched in the face by an irate fan outside a South Bend restaurant early Sunday morning and has a swollen eye, a person briefed on the incident said on Monday.

That person said Clausen was "sucker-punched" by a fan as he left an establishment after having dinner with his parents.

The fan allegedly said something to Clausen and/or a female acquaintance.

A South Bend police spokesman said that no police reports were filed over the weekend involving Clausen, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The newspaper also reported that the name of the bar was CJ's and that a bartender at the establishment said that Clausen had been there with family members and other Irish upperclassmen after Notre Dame's loss to Connecticut on Senior Day.

I'm not sure what the hell Clausen's family would be doing with him past midnight, but something about this story still doesn't smell right.

that reporter is goofy when he said " what was his family doing out with there son at midnight for" It is there son jerk. boy u r a real winner. he should get a life that reporter

The most recent update says he was out with his brothers and some teammates at CJ's and was sucker punched walking out of the bar.  According to the Chicago Tribune, no police report was filed.  This leads me to believe there is a lot more to the story.  Jimmy likes flapping his gums on the field, so it's not out of the question to think his mouth may have led to the altercation.

I think what the reporter was trying to get across with the hour of the night that they were ALL out...MOST parents take their kids out much earlier than that ,but...we do NOT know when their evening got started or what else they were doing for all to be out so late. 
If it was a fan as reported that "sucker punched" him, why are there not charges being brought against said person? Is it not possible that Clausen might of started it? 

And as far as Colt McCoy....what a mature post that was,why is it people are GAY;if you don't like them?

It was a Florida fan making fun of Colt as well.  I find that hilarious considering the rumors surrounding Timmy boy and his 'saving it for marriage' BS. 

As for Clausen, I 100% think there's more to the story.  You get sucker punched, you file a report.  I've also hear that none of his teammates that were there stuck up for him, which if true, is crazy when you think about it.  Clausen is going to the League and he probably didn't want a court case interfering with that.  Would be pretty embarrassing to let the whole worl know that you got you a** kicked as well.

props for your last comment. We all make fun of Larry Johnson when he makes homophobic comments, but then a homophobic comment gets multiple respects on this site?

Getting sucker punched does not mean you got your ass kicked. It sounds to me that guy is not a fan of Jimmy's, and gets enjoyment hearing something like that. And who really gives a dam about Colt and Tim like there Jesus  and God wrapped into one.  Get a life!

just because Im not a Texas fan doesnt mean I dislike Colt McCoy..just a joke..I dont care for the Cowboys either but I like Tony Homo  : -P

  Seems to ME...and this is just my thoughts so they should be taken as just that,it is not written in stone and law...but, I think what was said about Colt and Tony; stopped when we all got out of elementary school.  OLD fashioned rivalry ribbing for adults....to my thinking,should not include such things.
