Juan Dixon suspended by Spanish team for testing positive for steroids

I'm not going to say that the NBA is teeming with guys doing steroids and PEDs, but I am going to say that people who say that basketball has nothing to worry about in regards to steroids and PEDs are complete and utter morons.

We've already seen Rashard Lewis get suspended for juicing, and he's a pretty good player. So I would be shocked if some lesser guys weren't on the juice as well. Plus, no one can tell me that Karl Malone wasn't on something.

And now we have another player who's been caught.

Juan Dixon, who won an NCAA title at Maryland and bounced around the NBA for nine years with the Washington Wizards, Portland Trail Blazers, Toronto Raptors and Detroit Pistons, has tested positive for the steroid nandrolone, his Spanish team Unicaja announced. He's been suspended indefinitely.

I can't be the only one that thinks that guys wanting to hang on for a few more years and grab a few more paychecks would juice. Steroids help with strength and increase recovery time, two things you definitely need as you get older.

So while the NBA may not have a real steroids problem right now, if they keep ignoring these early warning signs, they'll eventually have one, just like baseball did.
