Well it was fun to talk about, but the Kevin Garnett to LA deal is reportedly dead. I Heart KG notes three seperate sources:

Trade talks that involved sending Minnesota star Kevin Garnett to the Los Angles Lakers have ended, sources within the organizations have told ProBasketballNews.com. "It's officially dead. (Timberwolves owner Glen) Taylor won't allow it to happen," one source said.

Second source: "All discussions have ended (between the Lakers and Timberwolves)"

Third source: chances are "very slim" Garnett would end up with the Lakers

If you're like me, and just hoping for a big impact trade this offseason don't worry. I believe it's still very possible to see KG on the move. Tonight, ESPN's Jim Gray is reporting that the Suns, Celtics and TWolves have resumed discussions of a big deal:

Three teams are involved in these discussions, with the Suns getting Garnett, the Celtics picking up Phoenix forward Shawn Marion and the Wolves acquiring the fifth pick in Thursday's draft and players from Boston.

Keep your fingers crossed. This is the best deal possible for all parties. Let's hope it goes down, is the thought of KG with Steve Nash too good to be true? His smile would be far bigger than this one.

0	I knew it. As soon as I make the pick for the Suns, I see this. If the Suns can get KG and only give up Marion and picks, you take that deal as fast as you can. I didn't see any mention of them trading picks, but I'd assume they'd give up something. If not, that would be even more amazing. Nash, KG, Amare. My god. If this happens, I will make N64 Kid look like Eeyore.

You'd have to think one of this year's picks is involved and maybe even next years Hawks pick. Steve Kerr gets GM of the year before his first game if he can pull this off.

0	John Gambadoro just came on the Diamondbacks broadcast to report the Suns are likely moving Kurt Thomas and a future #1 pick to Charlotte for salary relief. Is this to clear out room for a Garnett trade, or is this unrelated? I don't like the thought of giving up Thomas unless someone else is coming in.

I would have to think this is a strategic move to free up some necessary money to make a Garnett deal work.

I like Gambo (for the most part). I don't get the chance to listen to him on radio really though, but I like the columns he writes for AZ Central.
