Kevin Harvick to Drive for RCR in 2010 - Really!
Methinks the man (Richard Childress) Doth protest too much
It's no secret that Kevin Harvick is having his worst year ever in the Cup Series, and his teammates, Jeff Burton and Clint Bowyer, aren't doing much better.

Last race, Kevin and Clint got together at Bristol and effectively removed Clint's chances at a place in the Chase for the Cup.  Harvick will be out of the Chase as well, and so far this season is as winless as last.  In fact, his last win driving for Childress was the 2007 Daytona 500, won by inches over Mark Martin.

His own teams, in the Nationwide and Camping World Truck Series are doing much better, but Harvick has said he isn't interested in following in Tony's footsteps to become an owner/driver.  In fact, he has said, in part:

“While the 2009 season has not been what any of us have wanted, Richard and I are both committed to improving the performance … for the remainder of this year and the 2010 season,” Harvick said in the statement.

There better be some improvement soon, though, because I just can't see any of them, let alone Kevin, sitting back and running happily in a 20th or worse position for another year.

RCR and Roush just dont have the firepower under the hood to compete with what Hendrick brings to the track every week.  It's not a coincidence that Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon are on there way to another chase or that Mark Martin is having a banner year at the age of 50 while driving with Hendrick power.  It's even more of a telling when Tony Stewart and Ryan Newman have been able to make the smooth transition from Toyota and Dodge and they find themselves right in the thick of competing for a championship.  RCR and Roush need to do something because Hendrick continues to be well ahead of the game in terms of engine packages and the ever changing landscape of the COT.

I don't know what he'll do but, knowing him he'll make a major move in the future! ...We'll see...

Hey look at Mister Peanut Butter Cups roll around in 20something place. Very sad to see, and the fact that RCR will have 4 teams miss the Chase is unthinkable. Maybe a switch to HMS equipment is what the team needs. Seems to me they are all talented drivers, 3 out of 4 for sure. Maybe an equipment Upgrade is necessary to stay competitive. I can't imagine a duplicate Season like this will be tolerated at RCR. Then again maybe they can trade Junior for Harvick, that would be interesting?

Coming in to 2009, and with Matt Kenseth's strong start, who would have thought that RCR and Roush would be struggling the way they are??  It's almost like the curse of the Daytona 500 - win that one and dry up for the rest of the year....errrr, couple of years.....decade in some cases
