Kevin O'Neill is hired to take over whatever the heck is left of the USC basketball program.

I'm not sure why anyone would want to be the head coach of the USC basketball team right now, what with some serious penalties looming as a result of the OJ Mayo scandal, but Kevin O'Neill decided what the hell, I'll do this.

The 52-year-old coach was an assistant with the Grizzlies this past season. Mayo plays for the Grizzlies. O’Neill led the Raptors to a 33-49 record in 2004.

1	A weird last few years for this guy. He did decent work at Marquette and Northwestern. That whole Arizona period where he was interim, waiting for Lute Olson to retire was weird. He's serviceable, but that's a high-profile job.

Yeah, at least this guy has some pac 10 connections with high school coaches and AAU guys, so really not a bad move by USC. I think he'll do fine in recruiting and if USC wants to start cleaning up their program, this is a good move to make. This guy does not have a ton of baggage like some other candidates that were mentioned for the job.
