Mika Kiprusoff got a night off in St. Louis, but he was back in net against the Los Angeles Kings, and he certainly performed as expected.  Dion Phaneuf and Nigel Dawes got goals for the Flames in their 2-1 win, and Kiprusoff stopped 34 shots, 15 of them in the third period.

Flames' stars Jarome Iginla, Daymond Langkow and Oli Jokkinen gained assists, feeding the puck to the goal scorers, just in the manner we have come to expect.

Kings' player Corey Elkins scored his first NHL goal in the third period to thward the Flames' attempt at a shutout, in only his second NHL game.   Elkins is definitely a new asset to the already strong Kings and one to watch in the coming games.

Up next: Nashville Predators, Saturday.
