Knicks plan on moving up to #2 in the NBA Draft for Ricky Rubio
The Knicks' interest in trading up to the #2 spot to grab Ricky Rubio is apparently legit. Makes sense, given D'Antoni used to have Steve Nash on the Suns.
READ MORE:
The hot rumor for weeks is that the Knicks are planning on moving up to #2 in the NBA Draft to select Ricky Rubio.

Apparently, the rumor is beginning to be confirmed as legitimate by multiple NBA sources.

To me, it makes perfect sense. Rubio is a Steve Nash clone, and we all know how much Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni thought of Nash when he coached him in Phoenix.

The Knicks also desperately need a real point guard too, and that's precisely what Rubio is.

Rubio is a clone of Nash in that he is extremely creative with the ball but differs in that he has a poor jumper and is rumoured to be a dogged defender.

Rubio is not a quality shooter. Steve Nash was a more than quality shooter. It only works if Rubio can hit a jumpshot. Nope.

 This is funny.

Clearly you don't need someone to pass the ball TO Lebron.  You need someone for him to pass TO. That isn't Rubio.....
Do you watch basketball ever>? Pfffft.

why not go for Jonny Flynn, a proven play-maker and leader with 3 point range?

just this morning there is an article in our local paper with a quote from GM Wallace  that says that without a proven power forword or legit superstar being in the trade offers then the Grizz will hold on to the pick. I don't think NY has either of the 2 worth the #2 pick

Rubio is gonna hold out for the Lakers....

yep, that's what I'm thinking, Buck. Knicks can grab Flynn without giving up players or picks

Rubio was good in Spain, however who knows how he will do here in the states. He stinks at defense, and he stinks at shooting. Trade away Knicks! D'Antoni is an awesome coach but even Mike D can't help Rubio become anywhere near as good as Nash.

Rubio is only 18 and easily capable of becoming a quality shooter..... he played pretty well against the US in the olympics.

I mean, the guy did win the Defensive Player of the Year award in his league this season. I doubt that translates to any European playing much defense but I think it suggests he's got a clue of what's going on. So I don't know about "stinks" defensively.

Ricky Rubio will be the biggest bust in NBA history.

Considering we've already seen Darko, I find your statement impossible to believe.

Rubio is a stud.  If he develops a jump shot, he is a Nash clone.  Let us not forget that Nash is one of the worst defenders in the league.

I mean this in the least jingoistic manner possible, but haven't the Knicks learned their lesson with an endless string of useless euro-trash players.  Weis, Lampe, Vraneš, Vujanić, and of course the latest disaster, Danilo Gallinari...it is a horrifying list.  If they had drafted Dirk Nowitzki, he'd be pumping gas in Düsseldorf by now - it is that bad a track record.

Unless they can get the #2 pick for their pick and players they don't want, the Knicks should keep their picks and get the best 2 or 3 players available instead of packaging picks and players to get just 1 players. There are a lot of quality point guards in this draft. Knicks need many new players. They cant afford to give up much to move up in a draft.

This reminds me of the NFL when there were all those great QBs in the draft. Pittsburgh used their pick to get Big Ben--a great QB later in the 1st round. Giants traded to get Eli--also a great QB. Which team has won more super bowls and play off games since then? Steelers got about as good without gambling extra picks.

The Knicks will kill his career! They are no longer a real b-ball team. They haven't been competitive since the 90's. They need to start the rebuilding process will a true center, then the other pieces will fall into place. Isiah wrecked the franchise!!
